Star Evaporates Planet

Star evaporating five million tons of planet's matter per second

WTF? This is nuts

thats fucked

1 x 60 x 60 x 24 x 365 = 31,536,000 seconds in a year

31536000 x 5,000,000 = 157,680,000,000,000

So in ONE year this planet loses 158 trillion tons of matter? its either shrinking really fast or most of the matter falls back onto the planet when it rotates away from the sun

just for fun I googled. based on that article saying the planet is 1000x the mass of earth, and figuring what the mass of earth is via google, that planet is

6.0 × 10 to the 27th, tons

Cool read - that sort of radiation level is near impossible to comprehend. Combine that with the insane heat of being near the star and pretty much everything on the planet is getting vapourized.

Considering that the planet is 1000 times more massive than Earth (and the Earth weighs over 6 and a half sextillion tonnes), it's not vapourizing *that* fast though. It will be around for a long while...
