Clutch friction materials I'm looking at getting a Competition Stage 2 clutch and it's a full-face carbon kevlar friction material. Does anyone have any experience with using a kevlar clutch? I've read that these things glaze if you use it in stop-and-go traffic. Is it really as unusable as people say it is? And yes I see that this is the third clutch thread this week on VAC hahaha. |
A kevlar clutch has the potential to have a longer life, but if it glazes, it will not recover. As well, if any oil/grease gets on it, it's going to be junk. As a DD, it's not great..just get a organic material for a daily. For a track/race car, it's fine. |

Well, slip it a couple times and it's not going to last long. With a perfect break-in, most people are getting 30K miles generally (Audi/MINI forums that I'm on) with their kevlar faced clutches. Unless you are putting down a lot of torque, I don't think you'll need the clamping power of the kevlar clutch. |
