2006 tsx honda MTF or royal purple 10W30/10W40 syn or better alternatives

as title says, i need to change my manual tranny fluid. Which oil should i use.?

I also want to know what most of you choose to use and the price of oil.

Thanks. =]

Honda MTF
Most shops will even suggest it over any other synthtic fluids like RP, redline, torco etc.

Bahhbeehhaaaa 09-19-2011 12:59 AM

anyone else?

trancehead 09-19-2011 01:07 AM

i use Amsoil MTF

check Amsoil's website. its honda's new official oem replacement or however they titled it. Ive had it for about 2 months now and my shifting is buttery smooth

Bahhbeehhaaaa 09-19-2011 01:22 AM

WILL TRY OUT!~

why does honda mtf suck on your car?
what car and tranny?
since you use gm syncromesh, im assuming your tranny is grinding in 3rd gear?

6o4allmotor 09-23-2011 04:34 PM

if the car is stock run the oem mtf if the car is being pushed ie more power and higher rpm a run the torco it does a lot beter for shock and wear protection.

tofu1413 12-26-2011 11:06 PM

+1 to synchromesh on my worn out ITR tranny. 3rd gear stopped grinding

GG 12-26-2011 11:54 PM

honda MTF my ass, new label old label same shit different pile

i was changing every 5000km when the weather gets cold my 3rd pops out

after switching to Amsoil MTF my tranny has been problem free for over 15k km

Bahhbeehhaaaa 12-27-2011 02:25 AM

my tsx shifts like butter after changing the oil with honda MTF =) i'll try amsoil on my next change

GG 12-27-2011 11:05 AM

the problem with honda mtf is that it does NOT last long

especially first thing in the morning where u try to shift while the car is cold

I tried motul too, its nice but its too thick. Therefore takes longer to warm up

SOLO-ITR2001 02-07-2012 01:47 PM

OEM Honda fluids. There is a reason they make it specifically for Hondas.

t-s-x 05-31-2012 11:40 PM

bro honda atf u cant go wrong dont be cheap!

marco520 06-19-2012 11:28 PM

most popular ones for Hondas are: amsoil, honda mtf, and GM synchromesh (aka ACDelco)
I'm running on ACDelco on my rsx-s, feels better than honda MTF imho
my friend's running on amsoil, said too feels better than honda MTF
so it's up to you basically

avtarios 06-27-2012 10:02 AM

^^^^^^ This is what I would tell you as well. I actually spoke with a highly trusted friend who is one of the top mechanics at the local Honda dealership today regarding this. I'm looking into getting a B17 trans with carbon coated syncros and a Type-R LSD in it. He told me (very generally) about the reformulated Honda MTF. I was previously using Royal Purple 10-W30 in my transmissions which I loved. He told me that with the new additives in the Honda MTF it would smooth shifts and prolong the trans as well as the LSD. So once I put it in, Honda MTF it is for my baby!!!

BoS_DC2 06-27-2012 03:56 PM

Honda MTF, all the time.
