Rust-like spots
 

Hi all,

Looking for recommendations on what can remove rust-like spots all over the car. Have a white Mazda 5 and can best describe these spots like orange rings.

You cannot feel these spots, but they sure are visible due to the white on orange colour!

Have tried using a clay bar, but no success. Also tried WD-40 as an experiment since it does dissolve road tar, with limited success.

What else can I try?

Could just be tree sap or something like that. You could try something like goo-gone, but I like to use the good ol' lacquer thinner. Just make sure you wash it off right away.

Can you post a pic? Also, what kind of clay bar? Could be the one you were using wasn't aggressive enough. As well, IronX may do it.

how old is the car? sounds like it could possibly train fallout. As Ken (911fanatic) mentioned, I'd also recommend IronX.

i owned a white mazda 3 and i get these spots as well..

its usually after winter from the salt...

i cant remeber the product i used but you can buy it from lordco. Its mainly for removing tar from road consturction

One of the main problems I've always had with white cars. You gotta keep it clean through the winter and even then it won't help much.

Buff polish wax clay bar, etc. It's basically bits of metal (brake dust, rail dust, etc) embedded in the finish that start to show when they rust.

My white Jeep used to get so bad you'd damage the finish just getting it off.

If you find a miracle cure, please post.

Car is only 2 years old. Will give IronX a try and see how it works! Thanks for the suggestions.

Clay will only shear the particulates off whereas the Iron X is a liquid and will actually dissolve the iron particles. And yes, it is totally safe on all automotive surfaces, just don't let it dry completely. I suggest doing one side at a time.
