Hotmail account sending out spam emails randomly?

Ive had my email for like 6 years, never had a problem until these few days. Its been sending random spam emails out to my contacts. :suspicious:

The most recent one was this evening where it was sending out World of Warcraft emails? How the hell do you stop this? :fulloffuck::fuuuuu:

Already changed my password and all that simple stuff, dont think its got anything to do with my computer.

Are the emails that are being sent showing in your "sent messages" ? If they are someone/a bot has access to your account. Change your password to a word + numbers + capitolization.

I'm pretty sure you have to change it to a completely different password, trying using capitals and numbers to throw the "bot" off it's track.

put in one of these !@#$%^&*() dont remember who told me but they said it makes it sooo much harder to hack into an account, also the bot could be on your computer, keylogger??

scan with spybot and adaware.

both available for free.

there is most likely malware or something on your computer that is tracking your key strokes.

those two should get rid of most problems.

If it still exsists after that, you may have to individual delete some registry files that are corrupt. this is very risky though.

You can also try pressing control+alt+delete, go to task manager, then under the processes tab at the top, check if there is any process with a bunch of random letters/numbers or combination of both. This is usually a malware program that installed itself onto your computer and keeps running in the background.

Copy down the name of this process and google in "how to remove _________ " and you should find an instruction set on how to get rid of these types of malware.

just a thought
if the bot is 'logged in' to ur account then
despite u changing ur password, it might be still logged in hence it can keep sending out emails?

or does hotmail log everyone out from the world when it was logged in with a previous password.

should probably just switch to gmail

Download malwarebytes.

You most likely have a trojan on your computer because if you check the ip on the e-mails sent from your account they're most likely have ip addresses from Russia or other open proxies.

AzNightmare 09-22-2011 04:31 AM

That's pretty strange if it's even in your sent folder.
When I used to do these auto spam emails, they didn't actually show up in my sent folder.
But all I did was simply change my password, and it never happened again...

happened to my cousins hotmail too

got an email by him about how he's always been shy and timid but this link changed his life ;)

was sent out to his entire email list

If you've changed your password a few times already and its still doing this, as others have said, you probably have a trojan/spybot/virus on your computer.

Seeing "penis" and "his ass" in the same sentence gives me the shivers.
