Need a custom Wiring harness for HID's hey guys, I want a custom wiring harness for my HID's. I want it to have 2 "remote turn on plugs" so that I can tap the harness into my stock light socket, and into my interior lights, so that when I unlock my car, my HID's turn on (because when I unlock my car, my interior lights turn on). Kind of like this: http://www.mobilehid.com/wires.jpg But above there's only one remote on wire, I want there to be two so turning on my lights = HIDS on. And turning on interior lights = HIDS on. Anyone that has installed LED angel eyes on a e46/any older bmw knows what I'm talking about. So what can I do? is it safe for me to just tap into the existing remote-on wire, and connect it to my interior lights? It won't cause a short when both my headlights and interior lights are turned on? |
You can use the same harness and tap the remote wire to the interior lights, but you will have to use diodes, most likely 1N4001 or higher. The diodes will prevent the current from lights circuit from flowing into the interior lights circuit, and vice-verse. I had to do something similar when I made a custom harness for my Jeep TJ's bixenon retrofit, as the low beam would shut off when I switched to high beam. I'd also recommend you add a simple switch to that wire so that you can disable the remote to the HID's, this way you are not turning on your HID's everytime you want to use your interior lights. |
Is there anyone locally that would be able to modify the wiring harness for me? Funny... This harness is for my jeep too lol. I've got projectors and all that, so I won't be blinding people. Posted via RS Mobile |
You can modify the harness yourself. You just need to add a diode to the wire coming from the interior and a diode to the wire coming from the headlight. After that you can combine the two wires into one and then they can go into the relay. Diodes are one way flow only, and this way all the circuits are protected. |
