Teaching english overseas

I was recently hired by this institute (one of the biggest in south korea apparently) for teaching at a yongo hagwon (english academy) in busan, does anybody have any experience working overseas in korea before? or since this is my first experience teaching english overseas, what are your experiences and stuff I should look out for?

(dog stew, plastic surgery, and eating kimchee everyday aside)

My friend did this, and what he found to be effective with teaching them was scrabble. Kids love games.

What qualifications do you need? I'm actually interested in this as a future side career just for experience and experience the world kinda. I hear things like that they don't pay you enough to actually have leftover money, rather also to pitch in your own money as well. Whats the benefits they are giving you?

I hear hagwons will try to pay you late from the beginning to see how much they can push you over. Be firm from the get go so they won't fuck with you later on. Are you white? Korea is quite xenophobic so expect some hate and shit talking (mostly behind your back).

BaoTurbo: You need a BA in anything. If you're going to Korea, the pay is around 2,000,000 won which isn't very much in CAD but the cost of living there is much lower. They also pay for your plane ticket + provide you with free accommodation. In the end you still won't save too much but I'd go just for the experience.

Agreed. My mom teaches English to little kids and that's what she's been using for years as one of her tools.
