An Award-Winning Video Dedicated to Everyone's Grandparents For those who live with their grandparents and/or are close with their grandparents, this video might relate to you. I'm close with my grandma and my grandfather has passed away due to a car accident, but I still felt the impact of the video. The idea of being helpless as you get older and having to rely on others to do the simplest of tasks; the idea of not being able to control your own life... This video promotes hope and encouragement for those with hardships. Without any direct dialogue, apart from a song by Snow Patrol, the video manages to portray a message of pain and suffering, joy and hope all in one. Background of the video: The man in the video has suffered from multiple strokes. He's very weak as a result of them. He has a hard time doing things by himself and constantly needs assistance from his wife and family members. He feels helpless and wants to do things for himself. When he manages to do the simplest of tasks without anyone's help, it gives him encouragement to take control of what's his; his life. Hope you Enjoy... |
Don't mean to jack your thread, just want to contribute to appreciating your grandparents while you still can, and helping them. |
i'm moved more by the supportive wife to be honest his quality of life probably drop dramatically if his wife died suddenly. |
i have one grandmother, my moms mom. to be honest, i hate her fucking guts. mostly cause shes treated me like shit my whole life and favored my cousins for being her sons, sons. im honestly jealous of anyone who has a grandparent that they love and will remember forever.. |
does she live with you or your cousins? Quote:

A lot of old generation grandparents treat their sons and their son's kids like that because they're the ones that are going to be carrying on the family name. I don't hate my grandmother like you do but she favours my cousins just like yours because of what I mentioned above. |
^ a lot of my Asian friends have this type of relationship with their parents where they don't love them. ie. they hate their parents for being too strict, unreasonable, very conservative and traditional, never saying I love you, stubborn, beating them harshly when they were kids, never complimenting them and always criticizing for every minor issue. My parents are like this to a certain degree, but some of my asian friends parents are way too hardcore and closed-minded. .. |

I've never had any problems with my grandparents, especially my grandmothers. God damn now I want to see my Meemaw. |
my grandfather had an initial stroke followed by a heart attack and stroke which ended his life. it was one of the most devastating things i have had to encounter in my life. its been 11 years and i still feel like it just happened. Thx for sharing this vid, it made me think about the good times and how my grandfather fought to survive until he could fight no more. |
