Hope he's found soon!

Edited: OP posted the link.

StylinRed 09-27-2011 09:40 PM

well, he's with his father unless they think the dad is going to kill the kid /shrug
and they would state if they think the father may be a threat to the child because many people think the same

that may seem like OMGWTFBBQ to some but after all it is the childs dad

LSF22 09-27-2011 09:43 PM

^ If being with the father was considered safe, there wouldn't be an Amber Alert?

Police have reasonable grounds to believe the victim is in imminent danger.

AMBER Alert is not intended for cases involving parental abductions, except in life-threatening situations.

father could have abandoned the boy and his mother in the past, divorce happens and mom is awarded custody of the kid, etc etc. Lots of scenarios that is possible but we won't know for sure until the public is given more information. Hope this one has a happy ending as well.

this is just from wikipedia:

#2The child must be at risk of serious injury or death.

Many law enforcement agencies have not used #2 as a criterion, resulting in many parental abductions triggering an Amber Alert, where the child is not known or assumed to be at risk of serious injury or death.

StylinRed 09-27-2011 10:04 PM

^^ yeah the wording they have gives them leeway and then there's the question on how they come to the conclusion of being in "believe ... imminent danger" "life-threatening situations"

but for us we shouldn't be ridiculing that because of the "what if" issue

so i'll still be changing my views

Exactly what I was thinking. CTV news also referred to him as "non-white"

The fuck?

Qmx323 09-27-2011 10:42 PM

probably of mixed racial descent

StylinRed 09-27-2011 10:45 PM

the news is updated a bit

the police probably came to the conclusion of "imminent danger" and "life threatening situations" because it sounds like the father is a thug

Amber Alert issued for missing boy from Surrey - News1130

Well maybe they don't want to say a specific race or they might get it wrong.
Maybe they don't know the exact ethnicity, or maybe he is a mix.

What ever the reason, at least people won't be looking for a white kid so it eliminates some tipsters

fa1civic 09-27-2011 10:51 PM

Just heard it was called off on ctv news. So i guess they did find the boy.

Happy ending to hour-old Amber Alert - News1130
Quote:

For the second time this month, there's been a happy ending to an amber alert issued in the region. Calgary Police are crediting the actions of an outreach worker at the Mustard Seed, as well as the broadcast of the bulletin over the radio, for solving the case.

The alert was issued Saturday night when an 8-year-old girl went missing from her temporary home in Fort MacLeod. The Mounties believed the young girl and a woman were travelling to Calgary.

Calgary Police Duty Inspector Paul Stacey says that's when the Mustard Seed outreach worker, just arriving at the downtown charity, helped solve the hour's old case.

"As they pulled up to the front of the Mustard Seed, they had just heard -- there was two of them in the car -- the amber alert being announced on the radio from the Fort MacLeod RCMP," Casey tells 660News. "As soon as they finished hearing that, they looked out on the sidewalk and there is the woman and the eight year old child that fit" (the description) "exactly to a T.'"

Stacey says with the arrival of police, at first the youngster was scared.

"She was a little scared at first when we came on scene," notes Stacey. "But we happened to have a policewoman down there that had some experience with our child at risk response team. And she really put this young girl at ease, and before long she had her laughing and everything else."

Stacey feels the case is an example of how well the amber alert system can work.

"Honestly this woman and the eight year old would have gone completely undetected had the amber alert not gone all over the radio," he adds. "And there was the keen sense from the downtown outreach worker, and timing too, that they happened to hear this and see them right there. It was a total success story as far as the amber alert program goes."

The RCMP escorted the child back to Fort MacLeod.

Yet to be answered is how the two managed to get to Calgary in the first place and whether any charges are pending.

Earlier this month, 3 year old Kienan Hebert was returned to his Sparwood, B.C., home after an amber alert had been issued in both B.C. and Alberta following his disappearance.
