:lol This is a good example of Google trying to be 'too innovative'. Not that it's a bad application to have around (it'll probably come in handy more than I give it credit for now), just that whoever thought of this idea was more blinded by trying to make it innovative than to make it practical.

Why can't you just type in the search bar "CHILI RECIPES" instead of searching "Chili" then clicking on the "Recipes" tab?

Nobody's gonna go through all those other redundant features like cooking time and calorie counter. And if I'm already having a hard enough time thinking of what I should make that I'd have to use the "Ingredient" feature, I'd be headed for the Food Network app or a foodie blog instead.

When you shop for computer parts, do you go to futureshop's site? NCIX? Or Newegg?
Even if I'm buying @ NCIX. I do my shopping @ Newegg. I know exactly what I have on hand, what my system can tolerate and what my budget is...
Maybe you have no idea what you want, but most of the time, I do.

I have some friends on strict diets. Blew my mind they have something like this handy.

How can this be "too innovative"? It is freaken brilliant! I for one would use the "redundant" features of cook time as well as calorie count, because depending on the situation, time and place, it would make searching for a suitable recipe a lot easier. For example, I am a impatience guy and I am on a strict diet of only having 300 calories a meal. I tick off 15 minutes and under 300 calories, viola, all the results are in instead of me weaving through piles after piles of web pages.

I just got a slow cooker and the first thing I wanted to make was Pulled Pork. Yes, it is very easy to cook pulled pork, but I had literally no idea how to do it and what pork to get etc. I am a complete noob.

so what did I do? I went to Dr. Google and typed in Pulled Pork recipes. Now, it wasn't as strait forward as I thought to find a recipe. If they had this recipe button it would have been much easier imo.

Because the recipes tab synergizes well with Google's current setup (ie. the pre-existing web, images, etc tab); not to mention, googling "chili recipes" brings up everything from websites and blogs to somewhat irrelevant wikipedia links (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chili_con_carne). It's like how, I would hope, most of us don't google "car pictures" and sift through all the website results for a few pictures; as opposed to just clicking images. The recipes tab, like the images tab, makes it so much more convenient because you'd only see recipes.

Redundant features? If I had some spare avocados lying around that were gunna go bad if I didn't use them relatively soon, I'd find it pretty damn convenient to be able to narrow my search down to show only recipes that included avocados.

As other posters have mentioned, the other features are very useful too. There have been so many instances where I'd be looking for a good chicken recipe, for example, and, in the process, a significant amount of the links I clicked would have cooking times that just wouldn't suit my schedule.
