I don't mean to insult but.. it sounds like you were just being cheap.

Everybody likes a discount but you should know when you start to mod a car, it causes more problems down the road. I can see reading through your and SG's posts that CG seemed to do a good job. They UNDERcharged you (110 instead of 135) and you had a seized tie-rod... so that added .5 hours? $40 and your complaining?

When my Audi goes to the shop, I expect to pay an additional $200+ for random problems... it's a Euro.. shit just happens when you have one.

pretty sure comptech charges flatrate and they do good work

There are always these threads about alignments. And every time I say the same thing. Dales in Langley. Excellent service, good and honest workers, and fair prices. I'm happy to give them my money. Ill be heading there soon to get my brakes done. Dales ftw!!

I like to use Richmond frame and alignment. They deal with old stuff (like 1960s MGs old) and they don't usually bitch and moan unless they really broke something and need to replace the part. Otherwise they will man it up and do the flaming and loosening for free. Custom alignment specs is no problem either.

It's when the tie rod spins freely from the other end or if a loud snap occurs then shit just got real.

I love how OP edited his post.
If you're not gonna stand up for what you originally wrote, you've only proven to us that you're a cheap little bitch.

problem? :troll:

I'm gonna chime in here:

I've taken my E36 M3 to CG ever since I bought it and have had no issues with them. My car, on the other hand, has had many issues (common) but the owner Chris and the rest of the guys there have dealt with them with no fuss. They've been more than happy to show me what they needed to do and their reasons for doing it. Chris has helped me out many times, giving discounts on rates and not charging for the small stuff.

Yes, they charge a bit more than other "Euro" shops, but it's justified by the fact that they employ former BMW techs to work on BMWs. It's still cheaper than the stealership. Considering the volume of business CG gets, they must be doing something right...

Bottom line is: There will always be dissatisfied customers at every shop and they're the ones that are going to be the most vocal. People should take what's written on the internet with a grain of salt.

my buddy has a E30 M3. Lives on the island. When it comes time to service the car (usually 1 major service before winter), he takes it to CG. They always seem to take care of him, even giving him a loaner car to use for the day, 2 days, whatever its gonna take while the M3 is getting dialed in. They do their very best to keep the ppl happy imo.

I agree that the OP is cheap as hell. But I've been burned by CG more than once so I understand where the OP is coming from. CG appears to be a professional looking shop with a solid following. I'm not going to argue with that. If you have dealt with CG before and are happy with the results, great. I'm not going to try to convince you otherwise. However, I do have concerns about their business ethics and price gouging practices. Chris is a very crafty businessman and those who wishes to deal with CG should be aware of this.

Sorry to bump an old thread.

I hate to air dirty laundry but just to support the statement above by toyota86, I brought my car in to CG for a PPI on behalf of an interested buyer. My car was deemed a lemon by CG. 90% of the PPI were cosmetic issues due to age, wear, and tear.

But on to the best part - No compression and leakdown tests were done. The tech there came to the conclusion that my engine "pings like crazy" = $5000 head rebuild job. Their advice to the interested buyer was to lowball me (I won't say how much) and bring it back to them to do the cylinder head rebuild. :fuckthatshit:

Sincerely,

One big WTF. :seriously:

bcrdukes 11-02-2011 12:29 PM

Oh just an update. I went to another shop for a second opinion.

Compression test was done. Cylinders from 1 - 6 as follows:

210 / 220 / 210 / 210 / 210 / 210

:fuckyea:

Head rebuild what? :grin-FU:

sonick 11-02-2011 12:40 PM

^ hehhehee post it on BCB!

bcrdukes 11-02-2011 12:44 PM

LOL!

I'd be crucified. Move over, Jesus Christ!
