Can i use copper RTV for manifold gasket?

Can i use copper RTV for manifold gasket? where the manifold meets the block? or do i need the actual gasket? and what about for the other exhaust pipes, is it ok to use RTV for the exhaust pipe gaksets also??

i looked at all of the RTV gaskets at canadian tire and the copper one is the most heat resistant one out.. so should work right?

ive used in on the intake manifold side times before. As for the exhaust side i have no experience with that.

i have never used RTV on exhaust side, but I did see a TT mustang with Orange/red RTV on the exhaust housing to downpipe.

not a good idea bro it will most likely leak like a rusty bucket whats the problem with getting proper gaskets ? you can purchase gasket material and just make your own if you have an oddball that's hard to get gaskets for it's a learned skill and a bit trickey at first but if you HMU I can give you a rundown on how to go about it

I would spread the RTV on a gasket.

yeah i am to cheap to buy the actual gasket, i beleive its like 20 bucks or something.. i geuss i will have to buy it though, should i spread the rtv gasket on both sides? i have like 3 tubes of copper rtv sitting around.

Last time I checked there are no RTV sealant that can be used for exhaust because of the temp of the exhaust. If you look on the RTV sealant package you'll see the temp rating of it. Also it can kill your o2 sensor. I've done it on my turbo impreza back in the days for a few days until I can get proper gasket and my o2 sensor died the day I put the RTV on.

You can get away with using the rtv on both sides of the old gasket.

yes you can use rtv if you cant find one for your manifold but make sure you apply it super thin.
