Hairy Crab 2011 Its the season again!!! http://a4.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot..._7361405_n.jpg Anyone got suggestions on different ways to cook these crabs? I'm tired of the traditional steaming and I still got a lot more crabs left. |
When I read the title of the thread, my mind kinda wandered...heh |
A lot of places just serve it raw with a soy-based dipping sauce. Try that if you're brave. |
How do these compare to the dungeoness crab? Posted via RS Mobile |

Hairy crabs don't have much meat. Work/Reward ratio is low lol. Most people just go after the claws and innards it seems. |

mix it with tofu? http://a5.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot...61890373_n.jpg http://a7.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot...70678689_n.jpg I had my "yellow oil crabs" made steamed with egg and "fa diao" liquor last month at a restaurant. Not sure if that'll work with the hairy crabs. http://a7.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot...13618326_n.jpg |

The male hairy crabs have softer more intense roe while the females have the harder roe. Unlike Alaskan king crabs, they make dishes like crab roe siu lung bao. Extremely yummy. http://www.google.ca/search?num=100&hl=en&client=safari&rls=en&biw=1276&bih=668&q=hairy%20crab%20roe&gs_sm=e&gs_upl=619804l623445l0l624987l15l14l0l1l1l0l631l2234l3.8.1.5-1l13l0&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=isch&source=og&sa=N&tab=wi |
