Forgotten Shooting Brake Concepts Originally coined in the 1800's, the term "Shooting Brake" was used to describe a vehicle that carried hunting parties. Playing on the need for storage in the back to carry hunting rifles, supplies and other equipment, this phrase has broadened itself to concepts and modified vehicles that have been turned into station wagons. I've always been fascinated by the concept of taking what's usually either a high end luxury or a sports car and creating something completely different out of it. I'll admit that plenty of the results have been less than desirable, but occasionally a tuner or even an actual manufacturer will come out with something quite stunning. As a result, I've decided to put together a short list of some well known and some not-so-well known vehicles that fit this concept. Feel free to add to it if you think I've forgotten something that should be here. Ferrari 456 Venice Estate A total of seven were order by Prince Jefri Bolkiah of Brunei, two of which were convertibles, as a factory variant built by Pininfarina. The Prince only purchased six of them when completed, paying a rumoured 1.5 million per car. Given the state of the Prince's car collection, it's fair to assume there's only one left in drive able condition. http://i1090.photobucket.com/albums/..._Brunei_11.jpg http://i1090.photobucket.com/albums/...niceyellow.jpg http://i1090.photobucket.com/albums/...ei_Blue_22.jpg http://i1090.photobucket.com/albums/..._Brunei_16.jpg http://i1090.photobucket.com/albums/...i456venice.jpg http://i1090.photobucket.com/albums/...erraritail.jpg http://i1090.photobucket.com/albums/...cebackseat.jpg http://i1090.photobucket.com/albums/..._Brunei_09.jpg |
