Need a Toyota remote

Its a long shot, but does anyone have a old dead one or something lying around? I'm talking about this one

I just broke the ring on top and if anyone can give me a casing that'd be great so I can just move the PCB over. Kind of lame to go buy a new remote if the insides are not broken.

Hmm, I'm actually pretty surprised... I couldn't find just the replacement casing available on eBay. You can get almost all other Toyota remote casings with the built in keys for like $5 or less... but couldn't find this one. All the auctions I found are for the full unit, not just casing... and those are $20+.

Yeah that's what I found, plus shipping and conversion rates. Hence why I'm gonna see if anyone has a spare or broken one. Its a long shot cause I realized its rather hard to damage the electronics inside with it being waterproof and no moving parts.

If you still have the plastic ring, or something that you can use in place of it, a bit of epoxy goes a loooooooong way =S

For the mean time yes, most likely I will, but long term use, I'm pretty sure its not going to hold and I'll lose the fob or something.

I have two of the exact same ones lying around after writing off my toyota. One of them is brand new as well.

I don't know if you would be willing to buy it off me for $50 though, it's more like a memory thing of my first car.

That's a lot of money.... Thanks for the offer though.

Sorry, just throwing it out there.

Your memories are only worth $50?

Try an auto wrecker.

what vehicle is that remote from? rav4, corolla, sienna, celica?

they're actually different... the casings are different, the frequencies are different, the manufacturers are different...

do you have the FCCID off the back?

Its from a Highlander. It looks very similar to the one pictured, but I know there are variations even of that exact style two button Toyota fob. I know for some the texture is different while its the same design and with a different brand of PCB, not sure about the actual dimensions though. Not looking for the three button one.

I'm hoping even with a different batch of the casing, the PCB should still fit, and I'll just swap the PCB over and use the new buttons and casing.

EDIT: Its a Denso, FCC ID HYQ12BAN

narfy 10-22-2011 04:53 PM

the internals of the remote are different... not all the cases are interchangable... the PCB may not fit... example: 03 corolla remote cases do not work with your PCB... i tried... lol

you need 89742-42120 or 89742-20200

same as
01-05 rav4
01-03 prius
00-05 celica

unfortunately, i don't have any spares...

EvoFire 10-23-2011 02:46 AM

Thanks narfy for helping. I'm not sure I want to ebay a remote since I don't trust that shit.

I'm gonna bug the dealership and see if they can give me one lol.... most likely not.

narfy 10-25-2011 12:46 PM

nobody's gonna GIVE you one... especially considering that no new vehicles use this particular remote... i could use one as well, for my wife's rav4... but i'm content with using a key to get into the car... old fashioned, but it works just fine...
