Upgrading to a new phone? - Rogers

Anyone here work at rogers?
Im 20 months in to a 3 year contract and im thinking of upgrading to a new phone.
I called them a few weeks ago and they said that i have to wait til im 24 months into my contract before i can get a free hardware upgrade
People say its usually halfway through a three year when i can get a free hardware upgrade.
Now i know ive gotta pay that stupid admin fee, but what else am i on the hook for?
Right now theyre saying i have to pay some stupid early hardware fee on top of the admin fee and what the phone costs
Is there aniway around that?
Say for example i want the torch which is currently 0.01 what do i hav to pay for? (just an example, promo?) or the 9360 which is 49.99 on a three year term (pretty sure this is non promo price)
What do i pay?
I dont mind re upping for another long term contract but at the same time is there anyway around the fees?
Any help would be awesome.

Please dont give me shit like switch to new provider.

Thanks in advance!

I upgrade to 9900 2 weeks ago and I didn't have to pay
And ECF. Early cancellation fee. Half way thru my 3yr contract

Only fee you should be charged is admin 35bux
But convince them you've been with them for a while
Can it be waived. Doesn't hurt to try. If they charge
You any fees. Just keep calling back till you are satisfied

Thats awesome.
Ive called them twice in the last few weeks and i get the same answers everytime.
Im guessing it all depends on the rep?
So when u upgraded to the new bold, was it just admin fee u paid?
U didnt have to pay anythin else?
Cus wen i asked about the 0 promotion on the new bold. They said id hav to pay 200 on top of admin and ecf
And i tried to talk my way around it for a while
But they said that the 0 is for new customers only.

Rogers sales rep can be such asses at times.

I think old plans need to have SAF and only new plans have GRF.

Its called the Government Regulatory Recovery Fee but has nothing to do with the government at all. The way Rogers named it, it made it seem as if this is a government imposed fee but really is just a Rogers fee where Rogers tries to get more of your money.

:fulloffuck:

Quote:

The Government Regulatory Recovery Fee ranges from $1.93-$2.97/line/month (varies by province and plan selected). It is applied to help fund fees, costs and other amounts related to federal, provincial and/or municipal mandates, programs and requirements such as provincial 9-1-1 fees, spectrum acquisition, licensing charges, and contribution charges to help subsidize telephone service in rural and remote areas. It may include costs incurred in prior years that are still being fully recovered. It is not a tax or charge the government requires Rogers to collect. The fee and the components used to calculate the fee are subject to change as the fees/costs of government mandates/programs change.
