I think most of the tickets were bought by scalpers. There is no way they could sell out 7000 tickets within a day.

7,000
150 × average price
--------------------------
1,050,000 = $$$$$$$$$$$$

Welcome to Vancouver...it's accepted we pay inflated prices here.
Besides...have you seen all the other events on NYE? They're all $100
For $150...atleast it'll be a memorable night with a couple world class dj.

For real. Dude obviously never took an economics class. And if he did, the teacher should be fired.

Greetings Everyone,

We've reviewed and heard many of your questioning on how SOLID NYE 2012 was moved from BC Place to the Pacific Coliseum. Solid Events Ltd. had never officially announced the event happening at the venue via online, websites, print, or advertised on the new years eve event being at BC Place. However, we did explore all of our options and BC Place was one of the many. The logistic of the venue did not work out for new years eve as the building is operated by an union staffing. The staffing had the right to walk out, strike or call in sick a day prior to the event.

Similar situation with the news article with the Grey Cup game below: (However, we do not believe we'd have the committee backing us like this)

BC Place workers strike tentative deal - British Columbia - CBC News

As a result, Solid Events Ltd. did not want to jeopardize our followers new years eve with a cancellation. We moved forward with our event and determined the best option would be the Pacific Coliseum.

Moving forward, you will not be disappointed for SOLID NYE 2012 as its going be MAXIMAL CRAZY!

Cheers,
Solid Management

yes willing to wager I will be paying $120 max to go to this party if its 19+. If they open it to all ages then yes I can see prices staying where they are. I guess time will tell :)

Have you ever been to EDC? Honest question. I don't even know how you can compare the two events, but since you're so hellbent on doing so -

You really think EDC costs $200 or whatever (it's actually around $350ish but who's counting)? Flight? Hotel (even the shithole Flamingo is booking rooms at $500/night that weekend)? Transportation ($50 cab ride there and good luck getting a cab back after the event - I paid close to $100 to hop in a limo after last year's event). Food? Drinks? After all's said and done, you're talking about a couple thousand EASY. My whole trip last year was comp'd (flight, hotel, VIP passes.. everything) and I still managed to spend well over $1,000.

Another thing about EDC - yes there's like 1,000 DJ's performing but are you gonna see every single one? Not even close. I think last year we just stuck around at the Kinetic Field and saw Benassi, Guetta, and Above and Beyond. Before we knew it, the sun was coming up and the show was over.

Honestly speaking, shows like EDC are sensory overload. Yes, they are a blast, but when there's so much to do at 1 venue, unless you focus on only doing a couple of things you're going to be spreading yourself pretty thin and it's hard to really get into the show when you're running around like madman.

Anyway, my 2 cents. Just drop the 2 bills on Tiesto, go, have the time of your life, and not worry about it. After all, it's just money and I'm sure you spend your cash on stupider stuff.

You think a majority of the people who bought the tickets are gunna suddenly be like "oh hey, i changed my mind i should go do something else because everything else tops a 19+ tiesto event" ? Ya right buddy.
