2000 Toyota Corolla Valve Lash Adj. @ Dealer?

Anyone got an idea how much the dealer charges for a valve lash adjustment on a 2000 corolla .

you sure the valve lash is excessive?? usually, on 1ZZ-FE engines, if the valve lash is loose, you got a hammered out lifter... if the valve lash is tight, you're likely starting to burn your valve seat...

typically, your car will have to be at the dealer for atleast 2 days...
car gets driven into the shop, they let it sit and cool down for atleast 4+ hours...
they take the valve cover off, visually inspect the camshafts, and measure up all 16 valves and write down which one(s) are out of spec...
they then use a valve lifter push tool/wedge to push the valve in question down far enough to lift the shim out...
with a micrometer, they measure the centre, and edges of the shim to make sure the shim is not worn... they then decide what shim is appropriate to take up the lash, or reduce the lash... and order it... this will show up the next day...
next day, they install the one shim, and re-check all 16 valves for lash...
replace your valve cover gasket, and reinstall your valve cover...

if the dealer doesn't have the valve lifter tool (which is not a toyota SST) they'll have to remove the camshafts to get the shim out... which means they'll have to re-seal the timing chain cover...

it's a 3.5 to 8 hour job...
