6x8 to 6.5" speakers
 

Hoping to get some advice/thoughts/opinions.

I've got a base model 2006 Mustang with the basic 4 speaker setup. AFAIK the factory ones are 6x8's front and rear.

I've got a set (4) of Pioneer TS-A1673R 6.5" speakers that are pretty much brand new that I put in my previous car that I have since gotten rid of. Would it be worth it to change the speakers out to the pioneer ones I've got?

From what I have read, the bass is not there in these pioneers. Would it be smart to convert the fronts (or rears) to the 6.5" speakers and leave the rear ones for the bass?

What would I gain? What would I lose? how easy would it be to change from a 6x8 to a 6.5?

We have the 6X8 to 6.5" conversion plates in stock so no, its not a pain in the ass. :) The Pioneers are pretty decent and will sound a lot better than stock. There are a lot of other 6.5" speakers that will sound better than that though.

applying sound deadener will definitely give you a bass boost in the front doors

Glad to hear it will actually be an upgrade. I might stop by on Saturday to pick up the conversion plates. What's the cost?

I was wrong about the speaker though. They're actually the Pioneer Premier TS-A633P.

They're just tinny sounding, lack depth in the vocals, etc etc. All in all, an entry level speaker. Better than stock. But at higher volumes may be uncomfortable to listen to.

As for sound deadening...if you plan on doing it do the whole door. Not just around the speaker. Otherwise it's kind of pointless.

Our spacers are only $20. We also have some great poly butyl based sound deadener which will definitely help. I can give you some tips on application techniques as well. :)
