SP: Red NSX w/ green wheels

Saw it yesterday around 3pm turning off from Bridgeport onto 5 road. Had a roof scoop and was pretty loud. Looked like it had an R plate on it too.

MindBomber 11-09-2011 11:28 AM

Best picture I could find, the colour combination is absolutely horrible, imo..

Do love the NSX-R GT roof intake though

Looks like a Alien poking out of a stomach! No thanks.

That's not a NSX-R GT specific roof intake, it was a factory option made by Mugen that all Type-R original buyers could have chosen. It just happens to be exceptionally rare, because it serves absolutely zero purpose except adding weight and looking a bit ridiculous on a street car. It's built to be used with ITBs. It's a nice bit of very expensive rice to match those hideous green wheels.

If I had ITBs on an NSX and money to burn, I would have chosen this more conservative hood scoop, which would be equally functional for a non-professional race driver.

If that giant piece of Mugen sex makes the owner happy though, that's all that matters.

Thanks for the schoolin:)

Minus the green wheels, it's definitely a head turner.

Would love to have the Ayrton Senna driven NSX-R though:

MindBomber 11-09-2011 07:02 PM

I think it's fair to say, every NSX is a head turner.

It's been twenty one years since they were first released and you'd still be hard pressed to find one in good shape for less than $30k. I will own one some day, the longer I need wait, the sweeter the moment I finally turn the key of my own NSX will be.

Here's a shot of the intake I prefer

twitchyzero 11-09-2011 07:49 PM

i dont think it looks as bad as everyone's making it out to be
not feeling the hood scope though...belongs on the Type-R GT

donjalapeno 11-09-2011 07:55 PM

green wheels and big ass intake need to go.

the intake isnt bad but since the car isnt widebody it doesnt really fit it.

smaggs 11-09-2011 11:51 PM

Not a huge fan of the intake either but that car is rocking ITB"s so props for that!!

I think the Mugen scoop actually looks good cause its subtle. The GT scoop this guys got looks pretty ridiculous on a stock bodied car. Reminds me of the scoops on mr2s, i hate those too!

jmanhas 11-10-2011 12:52 PM

this dude is one of the owners of Designo auto house

G-spec 11-10-2011 01:22 PM

I noticed at the DTP show too, the whole Designo crew, great looking cars but didnt like the fact they're using cheap knockoff style wheels on such expensive cars, their whole crew was rocking them even the lambo... these cars are too high end for unproven wheels...
Forgestar wheels is the name, and guessing by the name alone you would think the wheels are forged, nope they're fckin cast wheels...

I didn't like seeing that on a Lambo, fck even the NSX is worthy of more than that, those green wheels run for about $1500 new on some of the forum sponsor prices I seen online...

not being a price snob or looking down on replicas nothing like that, I had replicas myself before, it's a very good starting point for when you first get your car and wanna get used to driving with aftermarket wheels....
but when you're heavy in the game with very VERY expensive cars and you're too cheap to get legit wheels, I don't know, question mark

1exotic 11-10-2011 01:40 PM

imo for a red nsx a simple colour would look so much better..

http://img718.imageshack.us/img718/2...5ce96eb29b.jpg

green wheels maybe if the car was black, white, or grey... not red though.

G-spec 11-10-2011 02:00 PM

^ good chop bro, I think the majority opinion mine included would be the only green that can be pulled off in the JDM world, would be good ole Takata Green Volks, tried tested and true

Those GT snorkel looks soo right on a race car/widebody NSX. It was originally taken from Honda's F1 car and adapted to use on their GT500 cars. Such a legendary party, he aesthetics of it however, is a totally different thing.

Everymans 11-11-2011 12:27 AM

What's up with this mint colored rim trend? It looks ridiculous, turns heads in a bad way. Although an nsx will always be appealing, the green rims and that f1 style intake is too much. Simplicity is best.

yea i totally agree with that. If you take a look at designo's website, they throw forgestar rims on almost every car, same colour and everything. In a way, i feel they are ruining some cars and only selling these rims to those cars because they make the most profit from them. I also heard that they have stacks and stacks of these rims in their warehouse, which could explain why they only sell these rims...
money doesn't buy taste :S

Imo the forgestars themselves look pretty nice but some cars just shouldn't have em and certainly not in that hideous green and red combo.

Lol just scrolling down this page Designo Auto House - 120A 12820 Clarke Place, Richmond B.C. 1604.279.1183
there are so many forgestar F14's

And at the end of the day, money doesn't necessarily buy you a free pass either, it's not hard to find may stories of HRE wheels for stress cracking (non impact) even happened to a Porsche Club Friend of mine, but at the end of the day these forgestars are probably "proven" enough for the mundane tasks most of these drivers will put them through.

@gspec those takata green volks would still look butt ugly on that red NSX

NSX 11-11-2011 04:51 PM

I think painting his mirrors black is hedious.

Outreach 11-11-2011 06:36 PM
