CDN Passport Renewal

Looking to renew my passport..due to my work hours.. i'm not able to get to a passport office till 3:30-4:00pm M-F. Just wondering if anyone has renewed at the Richmond location lately and if there are huge lineups there after say 3pm. They are open till 5:30 unlike the other locations which shut down at 4:30.

Richmond location for renewal traffic is little faster than DT one. Tried it out on my last renewal and only took 20-30mins. Somewhat acceptable to me.

Remember the ticket machine accepts credit card only for parking, unless they changed to coins now.

I remember going to Richmond location earlier in the year and the line ups were short.

Do you use your passport constantly?

Can't you use the mail-in system if your so busy..?

When I worked in the downtown office we had a "dropbox" service.
Basically, we had a 1st floor office at sinclair center that just took applications and checked them for completion - lines are usually around 10-15 minutes even at peak hours. I believe that drop box office still exists so you might want to give it a try.

Note that all passport applications will take 2 or more weeks to process and returned to you. If you need to get it renewed in a hurry you might want to consider Express, Pickup, or even Urgent service (with extra costs of course)

Print out the forms before going in, this way all you have to do is to submit the forms.

Passport Canada: Canadians - Simplified Renewal Application Process

just got my passport renewed yesterday. the simplified renewal process still takes a while. you line up and submit all the documents but you still need to take a number and wait to be seen to get it renewed. they need to see you in person so they know the passport is not stolen and what not.

went to the surrey central location, waited 20mins during weekday noon time.

Got my new passport in the mail less than 2 weeks

this is incorrect
they do NOT need to see you in person.
though it must be someone that you are related to (ie: having joe blow over there is not going to work)

so OP, you may go get your parents or wife/CL partner to apply for you
