xilley 11-16-2011 08:08 PM

so.. spray on fabric, i never need to wash my clothes again?

Mr.C 11-16-2011 10:19 PM

Depending on cost... I could totally put a layer of this and have my car always dry.

danizer 11-16-2011 11:09 PM

probably wouldnt work too well in real world applications...the water will most likely just end up sticking to dirt and dust.....correct me if im wrong

Doesn't last long though.

this stuff is actually pretty good. i haven't washed my wheels for probably a month now and it's held up pretty good against our current weather heh.

i just hate that it's a dinky spray bottle and costs $12.99

AzNightmare 11-17-2011 05:57 PM

Depending on price, I would be interested... even if I have no real use for it.

I'm sure I'll find something to spray this stuff on.

I dunno about football or basketball...

But yah stick blades, or i would try it on the skate runners. So theres no snow build up on them and would work better on bad ice.

Or even just gloves and bandana during snowboarding...oh the possibilities. I need this stuff now.

or the dirt and dust will fall off to :fullofwin:

I would use this and put it on dirty dishes so when the person tries to wash the dishes the water just falls off :lol

Just found out this finally came to market early July, under the Rustoleum brand. $20 for 2 cans:

NEW Neverwet Never Wet 2 Part Spray Rust-Oleum 18oz - Amazon.com

NeverWet Liquid Repelling Treatment

Testing out Rustoleum?s NeverWet $20 superhydrophobic spray | Science! | Geek.com

meme405 07-18-2013 12:10 PM

so many possibilities. from what i saw in the video, for the shoes and clothing they used all neutral colours or white. i wonder if this stuff discolours anything?

especialy since the inside of the beer cooler cardboard box was kinda whiteish.

edit: just read the review it says exactly that. kinda ruins this for me.

Matlock 07-18-2013 01:43 PM

I would trowel this stuff all over my work boots. That way I don't need to wear my stupid heavy rubber boots when I work out in the wet.

rsx 07-18-2013 07:01 PM

If you spray this on the hull of a ship or a submarine, will you decrease friction to notice a speed difference?

Graeme S 07-18-2013 07:05 PM

Kind of tempted to get some just to waterproof my goddamn umbrellas and backpacks. No more wet papers in the bag. Actually, might be a good idea for the inside. No more worries about spills.

Hmmm....

yet a good chunk of the video demo involves an iphone and the boss's clothes.

They are available @ Home Deport in the states. I just picked up 3 last week @ Home Depot by Bellis Fair. Haven't done anything w/ it.

Test it and let us know please or post a video :)

Hakkaboy 07-18-2013 08:41 PM

It dries frosted, not clear, and looks like it's really easy to rub it off

Skip to 2:24 to watch him peel it off with his fingers

dark0821 07-18-2013 11:22 PM

I was thinking the interior of my car.. especially if you got kids... you know what i mean... no more spilled coke or whatnot....

rsx 07-19-2013 12:17 AM

after watching videos, it seems the coating can easily be damaged by touching it (oils on hand) or just by simply rubbing against it. Very fragile.

ZordosZZ 07-19-2013 07:53 AM

hmm i could see the front end of my car looking like it's peeling after a bad sunburn from 1 trip to work (abby-rmd) :heckno:

sonick 07-19-2013 08:08 AM

Maybe on rims during winter :considered:

jasonturbo 07-19-2013 04:50 PM

Sadly this "technology" is only good for one thing, informercials.

A couple years ago there was a long list of people who basically determined the product had no real practical application. It's very sensitive to temperature and has poor abrasion resistance. This is why it's marketed to consumers and is not being widely used in any major industry.

Give a can to CIC so he can do a proper science fair experiment. I will only believe how good this product is until he endorses it.
