Video Card Temps What is a suitable stable temp for full load on a vid card. Wondering because when my vid card hits full load automaticly it hits 100% fan speed sounds like a jet plane. on idle it is at 40c I can set the fan at 55% but at full load it hits a stable 81c card is msi gtx 560 ti hawk |
I have very similar results as well with the ati radeon hd 4870 x2 Posted via RS Mobile |
Keep it under 90 and you're good |
Using MSI Afterburner with user definer settings.. 41c idle and 68~69c full load on MSI GTX570 bit more noisey but cooler. |

Depends on your case's airflow as well... mine sucks and it adversely affects my temperatures. Right now with my case side open I can manage 30-35c idle and 65c load. It shoots up to about 70-75c when the case side is closed and begins to heat up the other parts of my computer something fierce - running SLI Asus 560Ti DirectCuII. I'm getting a new case soon with way more airflow, the Fractal Arc Midi. |
Ambient = 22*C CPU Idle = 27*C, CPU Load = 41*C (Phenom 1090T @ 3.6 GHz) GPU Idle = 38*C, GPU Load = 69*C (Radeon 5850) :fuckyea: |
Its probably because I haven't touched any settings for the hawk Gonna leave it at 55% max now and play at 80c I tested again today and at full load playing bf3 with 100% fan it runs at 59c LOL |
I'm running the ASUS GTX 570 DCUii Idle temps :22c-29c full load: 55c-61c I remember reading that GPUs are made to withstand higher temperatures than a CPU normally would. I would agree with SkinnyPupp and just keep it below 90c. Anything above I believe would start burning into the card. |
speaking of temps, my xfx 4870 just hit 101 celsius earlier at idle even with a case fan blowing directly at it and 100% on the gpu fan :heckno: this was literally like 5 min after startup too. time for a new card :( any opinions on the gigabyte 6870? just looking for an under $200 mid-range card. |
