Ram 3500 with a Cummins |
I don't like the look of the countryman, and the passat never hit a chord with me, it looks ok. So I would go with the A4. The new ones look awesome.. although I'm not sure how much their reliability has increased since the nightmare B6 days. Given the weather in Vancouver, I'd take my chances with the FWD with a nice options package. FWD isn't horrible in the snow, if we get any. |
a4 ftw |
have you considered the Tiguan? those are pretty nice rides its comfortable and easier to get in and out of than an A4 and passat. if you really are only thinking between the cars you listed, my vote goes for the Passat. |
so much hate sauce on VAG products. Z3guy, are you going to lease this vehicle as well? if you are, then I would say to go for the Audi purely for the image/badge. if you are financing/buying to own, then I might suggest the Passat. it's gonna be just as roomy, if not roomier than the A4. I would say that the 3.6L is gonna be more reliable in the long run as it isn't a turbocharged engine. |

A4 or Passat. A4 Avant, especially. God I love wagons so much - it's going to be the best option in bringing your son to sporting events. Do you know how much gear fits in the back of an A4 wagon?! |
A4 with the S-line upgrade, or whatever the package is called for the aero package. Base models look cheap. Also, doesn't the FWD model only come with the 8spd CVT? |
I'd take the Passat but make it a TDi. A loaded car is better than a base model car, especially on an A4, which looks boring without any options. |
perhaps more info on residuals and interest rates would help, when I went with my dad to check out the A4 avant the lease rate was horrible, ended up financing a loaded venza V6 for ~$100 + tax more a month |
he's not going to buy out, so residuals is a non issue here |

thought of the 328 X drive wagon? they come with scheduled maintenance for 2 years (or was it 3?) if not in a big rush, wait for the new body style 3 series. i think those audis nowadays come with scheduled maintenance pkg thrown in.. same goes for acuras. |

guys, thanks for all the feedback, it has given me a different POV on cars. here is where I am at; A4 - leaning here right now....gry/blk colour, options, led lights, quattro, very base $41K after ARI rebates. Power is fine, just not sure if I can handle a base interior.....looks cheap Passat - $38K after ARI rebates. Loaded with alacantra inserts, 3.6L, 7sp dsg, 18inch wheels, navi, etc.....I admit it, the Audi badge is worth a premium for me. This thing is fast and drives nice. Cooper S Countryman - $40K after ARI rebates. Fully loaded with all toys.....I know this is a quarky choice, but that's why I like it....I think this thing is the perfect city car.... |

Hes strictly looking for a family car and yet people are recommending Passat CC  Passat CCs are 4 seaters. Its a coupe in everyway, it just has four doors for more comfort. hence the name Passat Comfort Coupe. |

40K doesnt seem right for fully loaded. Should be more, unless you are buying 2011 demos. if you want to buy one, send me a pm and i'll see what i can do |
