Dealing with car accident

Good afternoon revscene.

I am posting up this thread because I am completely lost right now.
I have recently got in an car accident, luckily no one was hurt, except for my car. :heckno:

It slammed into a light post and now it is undrivable. :alone:

Now before the bashing begins, I was being a rehturd before the accident and I am taking full responsibility for it, but I just don't know where to start.

My main concern right now is the light post I have "damaged" and my car insurance. When I hit the light post I believe I have made few scratches and made the paint come off. I was wondering if I would have to pay for that, how much of the cost would it be? And also how much of my insurance would go up cause of this accident? I do not have collision with my insurance so I am pretty much dealing with the car myself. So would that make my insurance stay the same? I am pretty noob so any feedback is a welcome feedback.

I am not sure about single vehicle accidents, but here's what i think.

If ICBC has to pay for you to repair the light post your insurance will move up the CRS (ICBC | crs.pdf) but you can choose to pay them back the full amount and your insurance will stay the same.

pretty sure if your car is a write off icbc will reimburse your car if its a write off, or if they fix it they will lol, ur insurance will increae by 6 points (30%) because you pretty much just said your at fault lol, not 100% sure on this, so correct me if im wrong guys

If you don't have collision insurance then yes you will cover the cost of fixing the car yourself.
As for the damage to the light post it will come off the Third Party Liability part of your insurance. It will increase your premiums for your car insurance unless ICBC gives you the option to pay the amount out front back to them.
The premiums change depends on what discount you are with ICBC and what level you are at.

Atta boy! About time someone with integrity posted in this forum. So.. refreshing!

this is what i think you should do. (IF) given the option to pay for the lightpost damage, DO IT! i know on the long run itll be cheaper then having your insurance go up =x and since you obviously had no collision, your car is pretty much up to you what you wanna do with it. You can fix it yourself , with your own money, or..just sell it as it is or..leave it sitting that way in your garage/or whever you keep it

How much do you have to pay for the light post? Compare this with how much your insurance will go up by.

The light post is covered (ur insurance goes up MAYBE, if your parents have a 43% discount at the max, there is a possibility it will stay the same if they are 'gold' members)
The light post is not covered (so you pay out of your pocket, insurance stays the same)
Your car is not covered no matter what.

Check with your insurance, it is possible that your insurance will stay the same, the light post will be repaired, but your car will need to be repaired by you. Best case scenario, good luck.

Thanks for all your help guys, I really appreciate them :alonehappy:

For now I'm dealing with the accident quite nicely. Friends and family have been really supportive. I am just waiting for any phone calls or letters from ICBC or the cops, which I hope I never get :(

And for my car........................................... anyone looking for parts for 240sx? :)

i have a almost similar situation , i crashed into an electric post it was 100% my fault also.
what happen is u will have to pay for the light post u hit.
u get 2 option here.
option a : you pay the bill right away and your insurance will not go up
option b: if you cant afford it all at once ICBC will let you have an arrangement payments
but ur insurance will go up 30-60% until everything is paid off.
