Best TV around 60" + ?

Hey guys, one of my family members is buying a new TV for our home. We currently own a 52" samsung LCD and it is too small for our living room. Any suggestions for new panels/technology for a 60+inch TV? Price is no issue, just the size is.

edit: I do not care if it is on sale or not. I just want the best technology available.

samsung one looks not bad. 80" is a bit too much but the 65 looks perfect

Do you really need a 3D T.V.??

What model 52 do you currently have?

haulin oats 12-03-2011 09:14 AM

Panasonic VT series plasma is currently one of the best TVs on the market. The new Sharp Elite model LED TV is probably the best, but the price is out of the consumer budget.

But yeah, I've installed quite a few Samsung D8000's and they're beautiful. My favourite TV at the moment.

The new sharp elite model, it is not in futureshop website or memory express. Where do you find it? Also, compared to the smart TVs in futureshop to memoryexpress regular TV, is the price justified?

^that tv is the 5000$ one right? Why is memory express tv so much hmmm must be older models I am guessing? Sorry for the mess of questions but is the new 240hz tv really make a huge difference that my family should get? We are not getting a 3D monitor as well, shits a gimmick and a waste of time

sindragon 12-03-2011 11:18 AM

found a website with TVs, the samsung D8000 series looks so much better with no bezel surrounding the borders. I might be hooked on that since we will be putting it on the wall with no stand like our current TV

edit: i do not know if a plasma would be better since I am currently using one and it feels more natural and smooth compared to a 32" LED tv in my room. It is more darker but any anedoctal experiences to share? :fulloffuck:

The model tv should be located on the side/back of your TV along with serial number and a bunch of other numbers. No need to really do research.

And also, I've never liked plasmas personally. I've always preferred the LCD/LED options. The heat and possible burning from plasmas scare me.

sindragon 12-03-2011 01:02 PM

^ true dat, the plasma are hot as fuck after a few minutes.

With any TV especially your 60" and above, I'd get it Professionally calibrated. Might as well since you dropped the money on such huge "investment".

Burning is not a issue anymore for plasmas and the PQ is better but the 80 inch sharp for 5K seems like a real good deal.

I have a Panny 50" plasma and while it gets warm, it's never exceeds tested operating temperatures...this while on for 10+ hours a day.

Besides...the PQ is worth it.
