http://carphotos.cardomain.com/ride_...4121_large.jpg http://carphotos.cardomain.com/ride_...4120_large.jpg update the lights, update some colors, put on some CSL wheels and this car would look like a current production car. damn BMW for not making cars like these anymore.......... :fuuuuu: (and this one is on sale too!) |
I think the Z4M Roaster doesn't look bad. They are quite rare. But always turns my head when one drives by. http://img250.imageshack.us/img250/5...s2006pohh6.jpg |
http://a8.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot..._3173231_n.jpg http://a5.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot..._4741002_n.jpg had one traded in at work during the summer... used it for commutes between buildings, and boy was it a nice car to drive. lowered on H&R sports and with 19" CSL reps. its a nice car. very pure, gives the right feel and makes the right noises... quad pipes. pure bliss. |

Here's another curve ball. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi..._Impala_LS.jpg ^ That model predates this model V http://img.wikinut.com/img/1fwreqwdu...et-Impala.jpeg :ahwow: The older model looks more like an ongoing model than the....errr actually ongoing model. Something about blacked out headlight housing make cars look a lot more modern than cars with plain jane reflective housings. Other than that, you realize that the side molding placement on the previous model was somewhat thought out, but the new one is more like a slab of white soap with no distinctive feature whatsoever. http://ford-mustangs.org/images/ford_mustang_1.jpg http://en.gtwallpaper.com/gt/ford/fo...eleanor_02.jpg This design stayed relevant and modern and revived that iconic shape so that the later iteration looked more like a facelift. http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-RCFM_4KiFm...00-2010-03.jpg The shape and the design of the original certainly was a timeless design that still speaks to the masses today. Same can be said about Fiat 500, Mini Cooper, FJ Cruiser and other models that have a "return of" offspring in today's showrooms. While the original MODEL did not look timeless the DESIGN did survive the times. Except Beetle, which its offspring has nothing to do with the original, neither spiritually nor visually. |
oh and here is another one you probably didn't realize. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3254/...6e3a6b2198.jpghttp://jdmwallpapers.net/wp-content/...black-rims.jpg Can you believe the earliest ones of these will be celebrating its 20th Birthday come next year? |
Still running about in large numbers the Camry of this generation looked timeless with its sleek body lines and a proportion that looks handsome at every angle. While it's not gorgeous there is very little to fault the shape and lines of the 1993 Camry, which departed greatly from its predecessor in styling. http://images.drive.com.au/drive_ima...toyCam1M_m.jpg Then there's the Japanese mdoel CF4 / CL1 Accord http://www.tunerzine.com/articles/9/images/19.jpg which, as demonstrated above, shares the aggressive yet sleek, subtle while sporty design language as a much younger Lancer Evo 7-8-9. This design translated very loosely onto the Acura TSX you see every day... But the CF4 / CL1 Accord paved the way for JDM Accords to acquire that European flair, which the previous generation Accord Type R (UK) sowed the seeds in Honda's design team. Speaking of the Evo. http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i6...8%20evo5/1.jpg I suppose if you make a car that looks as bonkers as this there's no telling which year it came out, yes? Now sit back, and take this in: You feel the same about these cars today as when you saw them back in 2000, amirite? That's timeless design right there. |
Here's to go timeless like a boss: http://images44.fotosik.pl/195/b72a718e0b010a19.jpg Still absolutely the car of choice if you want to show a Yakuza / Mafia boss arriving (a la Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift) even though the car could well be 20 years old and minutes from its demise. The following models, while looked a tad more modern, are certainly not going to be as timeless as this. This just set the bar way too high for its successors. Lesser Yakuza members have to settle for this: http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/images/ls_400_mk1.jpg Which still has the kind of presence you'd demand if you cut little fingers off of members that "embarrassed" your group for the sake of "traditions" |
Also I think many hasn't defined the term properly: There are TIMELESS DESIGNS. Which are designs that still withstand the test of times and it still looks like a modern design even after many years have passed. then there are TIMELESS CLASSICS. Which you know it's definitely a design of yesteryear, but it remains a design that intimidates, excites and intrigue....what they call captures the imagination. There are many timeless classics already posted on this thread but the most timeless designs are usually the most bread-and-butter design that really don't stand out in any memorable way, because plainness never goes out of fashion - like a pair of plain black pants. In timeless classics it has its era-correct aura to it (cars like the '65 Mustang GT), in some timeless designs either there is simply nothing distinctive (like a Toyota Camry) or that the design is so unique that it defined its genre for many years to come (like a Ferrari F40 for super cars, and the Civic hatchback for Japanese hot hatches). |

The first gen CLK body style still looks good if you do some mods to update the look. http://i305.photobucket.com/albums/n...r/IMG_8386.jpg |
What the hell is with all these <10 year old cars? That can't possibly be timeless yet. Quote:
