External Hardrive not showing files
 

Hey guys, my 1 Terabyte external hard drive isn't showing all my files for some reason. It says that there's 500gb of data on the hard drive but when you open the folder, its only show 40gbs worth of stuff. Does anyone know how to fix this? My files aren't forever gone are they?

try going into folder options and unchecking the box "hide protected operating system files"

I had this problem before and once you uncheck that box and hit apply all the files show up.
