+ 1, If more people had that thinking, this situation might have not happened.

You see a guy stabbing a girl, you start yelling and distracting him and trying to get him away from stabbing the girl. I, another bystander, see this as well, and I jump in with a nearby object, a chair or anything. Another person sees this as well, and next thing you know you have a 3 on 1 situation. Most likely the suspect would flee and the victim would have less severe injuries, possibly saving her life.

The victim was killed nearly instantly in that case, which is a completely different situation from the one this thread is dedicated to. By the time anyone on the bus realized what was happening the victim had a large knife in his passing through his neck, there was no chance of saving him.

I strongly believe in death sentence in situations like these. People like that have absolutely no excuse to walk this earth

Last year, a gentleman came to the aid of a woman who was being robbed. He in turn was stabbed by the robber. He laid on the sidewalk for an hour before he died. A number of people walked by and just looked. A few even took pictures with their cell phone. Nobody helped.

In 2008, a woman collapsed in a hospital room. Doctors, nurses and security guards walked by doing nothing. She died.

Joe Schmo walking by doing nothing, minding their own business and not wanting to get involved... I can understand that but doctors and nurses not doing anything? I thought they took an oath to help people.

Both incidents happened in NYC so by RS logic, it must be a fucked up place. Only in NYC.. :stupid:

ehh... even if you're not a physically fit person you can do something to prevent this from happening, grab another object, scream, distract him, gather more people, etc

assess the situation first, yep using the brains that we developed through the years of evolutionary process and ask yourself "is my life worth risking over someone i don't know?"

or

jump in like an alpha caveman and act purely on primal instincts and get seriously hurt or killed...while not knowing how good the chances of the woman surviving at the time of intervention.
