no I'm not going to dispute this ticket because im flashing high beam or not, that is just a reference for myself later if i should do the same thing or not

speeding ticket is another issue which is already finish discuss in here.

dysc 12-11-2011 08:28 PM

As i saids before, thank you everyone for the positive or negative input on my case, I've learn a lot today from you all and from the police officer, I should be more careful next time.

Before warn the others, I gotto protect and cover my ass first too.

kwy 12-11-2011 09:00 PM

dysc, thanks for the common courtesy of trying to warn others of a speed trap.

xilley 12-11-2011 09:13 PM

what i think
"do my own thing, helping others often gets myself in shit"

1exotic 12-11-2011 09:37 PM

65 in a 50? that's barely over the limit.

There can be cops with radars and people will be driving like 60/65 in a 50 zone... and cops don't do shit. It happens all the time.

Marco911 12-11-2011 09:40 PM

Your speeding ticket is not justified and you should dispute and plead not guilty. I'll help you out because you were being a good samaritan and helping others:

Dispute your speeding ticket.
1) If you were pulled over by a motorcycle driving the other direction, the cop might not have any evidence that will stand up in traffic court against you. I'm pretty sure that motorcycles do NOT have MOBILE radar and certainly not laser. They only have hand-held STATIONARY radar, which must be operated while stationary!

2) While your memory is still fresh, write down details such as road conditions, traffic, weather, color of shirt you were wearing etc.

3) If the officer testifies that he used visual estimation, question him on his training as I believe it is not possible to visually estimate speeds of vehicle travelling in the opposite direction without knowing the speed the officer is travelling. I.E. they are only trained to do visual speed estimation when they are stationary, or travelling in the same direction (called pacing).

The officer likely wrote you a b.s. ticket because of your flashing and decided to teach you a lesson.

There are a lot of morons on this forum that think that it is wrong to dispute a speeding ticket if you were speeding. I don't feel this way at all, and have only been convicted on about 2 tickets of the 10 times I've been charged with speeding in B.C. One of which was an excessive speeding, subsequently knocked down to a regular speeding ticket because the officer couldn't prove the excessive bit. He was sooo mad about that. Hahah.

Mark

Can you give me a BC MVA # for this?
Audi's known for their foglights to be their standard DRL's in the 90's and early 2000's.. (My 01 has it's foglights as DRL's.. so....)

Thanks.

rsx 12-12-2011 11:44 AM

I would count at least 3 instances where cars have warned me about speed traps, in turn, I've warned others. It sucks you got a ticket, but hopefully in the future you get saved by one, then it'll balance out.

My car's DRL are the foglights as well. I've been breaking the law the last 8 years! haha

^ If it came standard from factory then it is legal.

Thanks for failing my post, but my record speaks for itself. 2 convictions out of 10. Difference between you and I is that I know what I'm doing when I get to traffic court. One officer wrote me a note suggesting I was an "idiot" for thinking W4th Ave was an Indy course. He also wrote that he had been on the job for 20 years and never lost a ticket once. Guess what? He didn't even bother showing up for court and I got off.

acurael 12-12-2011 09:59 PM

getting a ticket for going 65 in a 50 zone is ridiculous. Cop was just pissed that you were high beaming and he couldnt give more tickets out to people.

So many roads have such low speed limits. Why don't cops go by school zones, neighborhoods etc where speeding is dangerous. I love when they are on the bottom of a hill on a highway with no exits, pedestrians and an area where not many accidents ever happen. They just set up where they can collect the most tickets in areas that the speed limit shouldn't be that low. It has nothing to do with safety.

Go find murderers, rapists. Not pull someone over for going 15 km over the limit and not going to cause any harm.

Hell why don't they give tickets to all the idiots that never shoulder check and almost crash into me everyday..they are more danger on the road than me going 20-30km above the speed limit on hwy 99 with minimal to no traffic. Or why don't the cops monitor intersections that have the highest collisions and catch people that run red lights and make dangerous left turns? end of rant

Sadly, i think cops have to hand out tickets every one so often. It's like showing up to work, and when your boss asks you what did you do today, you can show him some tickets you wrote up so it like you are working. Not saying violation tickets aren't deserved, but sometimes they will take the extra step to try to help themselves out too.

Barely over is still over. Cops don't do shit is their courtesy to you. I've driven over 50 going down knight st before and the car next to me who was a little ahead of me (we were going around the same speed) got pulled over and ticketed. I was allowed to keep driving.

On a side note, I noticed how fucking dangerous it is for those cops to pull southbound traffic on Knight St. I remember driving one time when the sun was setting, it was so hard to notice them running out to stop traffic. Honestly, they get paid so much and the city is so willingly to put them at risk just for a speeding ticket.

melloman 12-13-2011 11:15 AM

^^ They don't need to run into the god damn street. Grab a plate and mail the fucking ticket, or give a pursuit and pull them over. It's their choice to just walk into the middle of traffic.

Yup that's why cops in general, especially traffic cops sicken me. Go catch real criminals, not someone bearly going over a speed limit that we all know is too low to begin with. I've had my fair share of asshole cops.

You can't just mail a ticket. Speeding tickets have to be served on the driver at the time of the offence.

traffic cops get tons of overtime too. my client, who is on riot squad told me a story how a cop renovated his house for 6 months salary of being on traffic duty.

the best defense is driving slow, having a front plate and a stock, slow car. ahah.

If they do give tickets for improper use of highbeams, then you'll see cars pulled over every 10 minutes for leaving their highbeams on.

Is there an actual law that states this claim on the MVA? AFAIK, it's legal.

Multiple beam headlamps

4.06 (5) A person who drives or operates a motor vehicle must not illuminate the upper beam of a headlamp if another motor vehicle is within a distance of 150 m from that vehicle, unless the driver has overtaken and passed the other vehicle, so that the high intensity portion of the beam does not strike or reflect into the eye of the other driver.
