As a Sabres fan, in the keeper pool I had to make an offer that couldn't be refused for Hodgson haha.

So who gets first pick next year in RS-X? Is it the #18 seed?

Yea it should be the 18 seed. It's 6 skaters and 1 goalie you can keep, redraft rest of roster.

I'm currently sitting in one of the last 2 playoff spots but starting to think about retooling my roster for next year, hence the trade for Hodgson, my thinking, I would only be keeping 1 D between Campbell and Enstrom and wouldn't be keeping Stafford so I flipped the 2 and a pick for Cody, who I would keep as 1 of my 6 skaters. Campbell and Stafford helps Grandmaster Tse's team make a push this year, while I hope Cody helps me more next year. That and I'm a huge Sabres fan, so had to get Cody haha

Surprised that I haven't seen more trades like this, in my other keeper league, a lot of the bottom teams have begun trading for next season already. Another thing to keep in my in a keeper is don't overvalue high draft picks too much as most GMs would be keeping star players, so draft picks most of the time will be depth guys.

Yup, only 1 goalie, this way it's harder for someone to hoard starting goalies year to year, makes it more fair. Some teams right now have to go with 2 backups.

mmmm, maybe we should consider instituting a draft lotto for bottom 5 teams or so, so no one "Oilers" it haha

Everyone needs to keep the same amount of players on Yahoo, if that is the case, you could try trading off some guys and low picks for higher picks that others might want to keep.

Well I'm trying to decide between Roy and Oshie for my last keeper spot for next season, I think either one of them would be worthy of a keeper position and better than most depth guys one could draft next year. Which team are you in the keeper pool?

The thing not to forget in a keeper pool, is that unless theres a Crosby, Ovie, RHN type NHL ready player stepping in right away from the NHL entry draft, most players you're looking at even in 1st round of keeper draft are depth type guys like Ladd, Grabner, etc... that other pool GMs won't be keeping.

I'll be keeping Benn, Chara, Kopitar, Kane, probably Burrows. Does that mean I won't be making draft picks in the first few rounds, or what does it mean? Never done this before...

Nope everyone gets 1st rd pick (unless they traded it), basically you're keeping 6 skaters and 1 goalie, so your 1st rd pick will be the 7th player added to your roster. Think of it this way, the players in the draft will be the ones that aren't the 6 skaters/1 goalie that each GM is keeping.

Yea thats why I think its fair to only allow for 1 goalie to be kept, in another keeper pool I'm in, you have some people keeping 2 goalies so some teams are totally fucked in the goalie category.

can't believe the season is already over lol.. so only the top 8 makes the playoffs? that sucks lol.. should be top 10 (not like i have a chance anyway)

My keepers are most likely gonna be Nicklas Backstrom, Bobby Ryan, Matt Duchene, Duncan Keith, Alex Pietrangelo, Radim Vrbata and Ryan Miller. Although I might replace Vrbata for Ladd lol Ladd has a HUGE upside!

Only obvious keepers so far are Gino, Kovalchuk, Weber and goalie will prob be Rask (unless injury could pro long into next season then might have to be Lethonen)

but I have 3 more keepers to choose... so maybe Moulson and Brown + "?????" ?
