More debris and moisture can get into the threads of an open nut. If your wheel studs are very long tho your most common option is an open ended lug nut.
Good rule of thumb is %50 of the stud diameter must "poke" through past the end of the open lug nut.

Bought a set of ebay "tuner" closed end lug nuts and my factory studs stuck out too much for it, had to get some open eded ones to fit, I should've just went open ended to begin with to be safe, it's lighter too

YES!?@# same with my set water builds up inside the lug where the bolt is and rusts from the inside. The only reason why I bought the neo chrome was because the colour or paint was not supposed to flake and chip off with use like most standard coloured lug nuts but then they rusted .png) , withing like 2-3 months too which I did not know would happen when I bought them.
I ended up switching to WORK closed end ones and they were MUCH MUCH LIGHTER than the fucking muteki extended neo chrome. Quote:

What others said as well, open end nuts might start rusting if enough water remains on studs. But they do look nicer and lighter depending on brand.
I ended getting RAYS bronze closed end nuts with locking, since I sold my spoon red ones. Gott say that RAYS are so light too... Posted via RS Mobile |
