Possibly a new mazda owner

hey,

I'm planning on getting a Miata after i sell my current civic, do you guys have any advices on what to look for? I have no knowledge at all about miata's so anything helps!

Best year? Personally i think the early 90's look great.
Any common engine/body problems?
How often do you have to replace the soft top? and how to tell if its any good?

Anything helps!

Thanks

We know about convertible tops. You have to look for the normal stuff, burning blue, rust, clutch worn, tires. Listen for engine noise, clunking, shake all the wheels. The stock shocks are lousy.

For the convertible, the standard top had a plastic zip out window. Conversions include glass windows, and heated glass windows, and plastic windows that do not zip out. I would look for a car that had a hard top with it as well. It makes it way more comfortable and dry.

Thanks for the tips overseas.

^ I made an account but I can't sign in cause it needs to be approved by a mod? Its been a week already. How solid are the engines on miata's? I've seen a couple 2xx,xxx ones that look pretty good but I'm not sure if they're built like civics(my previous car) :p
