Advice on Acne Scarring
 

I've had mild acne for about 1 year and about 3 months ago finally saw a doctor about it and he prescribed me some over-the-counter pills, which cost $30 for 90 pills. I eventually ran out and had to get more, on my second container now

They contained:

MINOCYCLINE 100MG
MINOCYCLINE HCL 100MG

and said not to take iron, calcium, or multivitamins within 2 hours of the medication, and to take with food.

I followed those instructions, initially taking 1 pill before bed, then after a month taking it once in the morning and once before bed, and now almost all my acne is gone, and my face is smooth.

The problem now is I am left with a quite a bit of red/brown pigmentation/scarring which can take up to or over a year to go away from what I've heard. I thought, I would rather spend maybe a few hundred $ and get rid of the scarring fast, then not spend money and have scars for a year or more. I made another appointment with my doctor 9 days ago and he referred me to a dermatologist (the referral was so I wouldn't have to pay for the visit, only the treatment). The dermatologist has not called me yet but once they do, I was considering getting a chemical peel, as I read pretty good reviews on it.

Anyone else have had experiences with chemical peels, or have any other solutions to their acne scarring?

I don't know about acne scarring but my mother goes to a dermatologist and gets a chemical peel prescribed for her dark spots, which is kind of like scars i guess. She gets that filled at the pharmacy. Its basically a tube of cream and she puts a little bit on her face everynight before she goes to sleep. You can really see the difference, its huge~~

I am sure if they have something like that for dark spots, they have them for acne scars as well.

If chemical peels aren't for you, then i hear that the idealist serum from estee lauder is pretty good for reducing the overall dark pigmentation on your skin. Maybe try that? I am using that right now because i have some minor acne scarring and uneven skinton as well. The thing with creams, etc. is that they take time to work.

Anyways, the dermatologist should call you soon. I know dermatologists are usually very very busy, especially during the end of the year. Appointments are through the roof. But good luck!

The best way to get rid of any scarring is to heal from the inside out for you shed your skin everyday and thus within a year you have all new skin, new cells, basically a whole new body. The skin is the fastest and easiest thing to change. Skin is made up of fat cells so you need to nourish those cells so that they can heal.
My best advice is to use COCONUT OIL, or OLIVE OIL - make sure it is organic and raw and unrefined - the closer it is to the actual plant the better. It may seem weird and you may think that you will get more acne from putting straight oil on your face but it is the exact opposite. You face creates acne/zits to push out toxins from your body and/or your pores getting "clogged" from overwashing and drying out of the skin. Everytime we wash our skin and strip the oils from it the skin has to work extra hard to produce oils - thus sometimes "clogging" certain areas because too much oil is produced to overcompensate the stripping that we do.
