	   | how to recover files that you "emptied" from trash on mac

deleted a file which i thought was a shortcut, turns out it was the actual file, not in my trash ...
i googled around and all those programs cost money, i dont really mind paying for it as long as i get my folder back =\

folder is school work guys, not pr0n

is there any way to get it back without paying?

and if not, which program is the best one for these kind of things

I've had great success with GetDataBack, now called 'Recover My Files'. I believe you can see what files the program can recover for free, then you have to pay to go ahead with it. $70 is really very little to get your data back..

Whatever you do, don't add more data to your hard drive, as it makes recovery of files that much harder.
Take hard drive out and use new one.

Then call around and get quotes.

Oh yeah, Windows only. So you'll have to attach your hard drive to a computer with a real OS | | | | | 12-21-2011, 02:27 AM | #9 | | My homepage has been set to RS

Anyway, OP, try calling Mac Station/Simply Computing or even SFU computer store for answer.
If you get the old Asian dude who works at SFU, you might as well hang up. He's such a miserable **nt.

Need help from some Mac experts..
I recently purchased an imac off craigslist, guy never included any startup discs, ilife, or anything..so I was stuck with his hurting music and files for a while. My buddy recommended I follow these steps in order to restore my mac back to factory settings
Anyone know if these steps completely wipe out the HD and delete all previous software and files on it?
TIA

You're deleting one file - a config file called .applesetupdone so no, you're not wiping out the HD.
 You don't trust your buddy?

Hyde owns a Time Machine, and has a new one on order.
Ask him to go back in time for you OP.
