You can use a computer. VDJ software is used by a lot of pro's for bar karaoke. Just add a cheap mixer from Behringer for around $70 and a wired mic or 2. You can hook it up to your TV or sound system. |
This is a casual solution... I run ultrastar deluxe which is an open source copy of the playstation game singstar. Using two USB mics, wireless keyboard and getting songs from foreign language sites I can run over 400 songs off my laptop with hdmi. It's a lot of fun at parties and it has points so it gets competitive with people. Songs are pretty recent you can get stuff like LMFAO. Music videos are in the background and u get pitch scores like rockband/guitar hero. It's a slick setup. No midi-sounding ding dong background music. http://www.opensourcepedia.com/wp-co...tar_deluxe.jpg http://amycapdet.files.wordpress.com...xselection.jpg |
How does it get the words for foreign songs? |
I mean I download English songs from foreign sites. It's apparently more popular in Europe. Most sites will let you download a zip with everything you need for a song. This includes the audio, the lyrics and pitch in a text file, and a music video if available. There's a bunch here if you scroll down. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UltraStar The Espana one is the best but you need Google Chrome to translate the site so you can register and log in. Also try google and bit torrent. You can also put together your own songs using txt - mp3 - video files but it's quite tedious to get the timing right: http://usdb.animux.de/ This site only has .txt files. |
my setup consists of this: BEHRINGER: MIX800 my laptop hooked to my tv You will need to find your own KTV/MV on youtube or download it yourself I personally have my own youtube channel with a big list of KTV, then on your laptop/pc you adjust that all sounds should only be coming from the left side of the video thus the singing is gone! or in some cases, some KTV already has the vocal part removed its the cheapest way but it isnt professional like one of the links above or the ones you would find at karaokes |
