Local Standup Comedy

Hey Guys...

just making a thread; just seeing if there is anyone here that enjoys the local comedy scene in Vancouver.

That is all.

I used to go to yukyuks downtown. Only paid once and then entered their draw for free tickets, won tickets, entered again, won again, etc... We must have won tickets on at least 6 different occasions.

They changed ownership or something for the location we used to go to and haven't got any calls from them for a while.

After seeing enough shows you start to get some repeats on comedians. Once that happens, you'll start to see which comedians are genuinely funny and which ones recycle the same material over and over again.

+1 for yuks.

My friends and I have won tix at least 8 times from the draws.
Definitely great place to go. It's fairly cheap during the week, but your opening acts can be horrible and awkward.
The headliners they use are usually awesome.

I have been to Lafflines in New West as well.
I was there once and will never go back unless a comedian I really like has a show there.
The seating is really awkward and food isn't that great.

Yuk Yuks is now the Comedy Mix...imo, its still the place to go from Amateur Night all the way to showcase night.

As for Lafflines, they relocated across the street to a much bigger room. I personally don't like it as its TOO bright....doesn't feel like a comedy club whatsover.
