Need Help - Telus Actiontec Modem/Router to external Router? Hey guys, Looking for some network help. I have an Actiontec Modem/Router from Telus and I also wanted to connect my Dlink Router for Wifi as well. The actiontec has Wifi all in one, but where its situated it cannot connect to my printer, as well the wifi in it sucks, the range is poor. I want to run both back to back. I was told I need to disable my DCHP in my dlink, and I've done that but don't know what to set any additional configurations. I have a LAN out from the Actiontec to a Lan Port on my Dlink as reading from other forums but still can't get it to work. Something about assigning it a fixed IP and and something in the firewall of the actiontec? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks guys |
did you try to reset you telus modem? unplug it for 5mins as well as your dlink. plug your telus modem in and wait for all lights to go on.. then plug in your dlink. while your in your settings, disable the wireless functions of the telus modem... as for assigning IPs... its difficult if you dont know what to do.. i would suggest getting a friend who knows more about it... |
normally you put the modem in bridged mode to add routers to it more easily but the actiontec AFAIK doesnt have that mode....i remember setting it up few months back and just plugging the router directly in worked just fine...but that might be because my plan offers 2 dynamic IP addresses (i forgot if that was the reason why it worked flawlessly) |
