I have: - Lowepro Computrekker AW Plus Backpack - for when I need to take my 17" Macbook Pro with me, or just a shitload of gear. - Lowepro Mini-Trekker Backpack - don't use this much anymore, but good for a small amount of gear. - Think Tank Urban Disguise 40 shoulder bag - great discrete bag, small, enough for a body, 2 lenses and a flash, but can expand to accommodate a pro-size DSLR. - Think Tank Urban Disguise 60 shoulder bag - will take a 17' laptop. - Think Tank Urban Disguise 70 shoulder bag - massive bag, will take my 5DmkII & 2 lenses PLUS a medium format body. - Think Tank Skin Set - a modular set of bags that attach onto a belt, I use this when shooting weddings. Yeah there's quite a few stores. Even Dunn and rundle which is downstairs from where I work has a few. Crumpler store would probably have the biggest collection. |

I have the Lowepro Exchange. Its not much padding, but its got compartments, small and cheap. And doesn't look like a camera bag. http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...LL._SX342_.jpg http://www.amazon.com/Lowepro-Exchange-Camera-Messenger-Bag/dp/B004C4YT2K |
Kata 3-1 National Geographic Walkabout Medium Rucksack Sony Camcoder shoulder bag. Doubles as a camera bag as well for super light/simple travel. |
Like a lot of others, I'm using the Crumpler 6MDH. I don't know if you'll be able to fit a body, 2 lens and a flash in the bag though. My 50D, 70-200f4 IS and 10-22 just barely fit in (with a tiny bit of room to spare). It would require some expert packing to fit a 580EXII in there too! My other "travel" backpack is the Mountainsmith Borealis AT. I had bought it for my Asia trip I took last October. It's pretty big though - not sure if I want to keep that one or not. Probably going to look for something a little smaller. Some pretty good suggestions in this thread though. |

I have the Billingham Hadley Pro in black. You can take out the padding and use it as a daily messenger bag for laptop, documents and stuff. Perfect for work! Hadley Camera Bags - Billingham |

If one of the lens is mounted on the body, then you can fit 2 lenses in the the 6MDH. With my 6MDH, I can fit my D200 + 17-55 F2.8 in the middle. SB-910 on 1 side and my 80-200 F2.8 on the other side. There's still room to stick in my 50mm 1.8 AFD lens. |

AA for minimalist Crumplers for hippie Lowepro for people with more gears than they actually need Billingham? That B is for Balling!!! :troll: :p |
OP, Not sure if you made a decision yet, and personally I think the Crumpler 6MDH is a bit expensive for my taste. But if you're like it, it's on special at Broadway Camera right now: http://www.bccamera.com/index.php?ma...oducts_id=5099 Original: $119 Sale price: $89 The same price as the 5 Million Dollar at regular price. |
Nice. I paid around that much for my 5MDH a year or 2 ago. |
If you've got somewhere to ship it to in the US, this one seems like a pretty decent deal for a bag (Manfrotto Unica VII): Costco - Manfrotto Unica VII Messenger Bag Seems to hold a decent amount of gear. For $40, seems like a reasonable deal. |
how about this one? Walked around londondrugs and found this. 0 Tamrac Rally 5 Messenger Bag - Black ;Cameras ;Camera Bags and Cases ;London Drugs Probably will buy it and wait to see if something better come up and refund if necessary, its a chunky medium size bag that also has a tablet compartment (though i dont own a tablet) |
I personally use a Lowepro Topload Zoom AW left over from the EOS-1 Days (Yes. The Original EOS). The camera bag is big enough to fit any body with a f2.8 telephoto zoom in it (without the hood of course), there's space for memory cards in the main compartment, and the main compartment itself has two layers of padding (main, and additional velcro padding). The front compartment has enough space to hold a 580EX II, or extra batteries and a lens hood. I personally wish the bag was slightly bigger vertical wise so you could fit both a flash and a lens hood at the same time. Another flaw is that the metal zippers tend to make clinky noises when moving. In conclusion, it works, but there's room for improvement. However, considering that this design is over 20 years old, i'm sure the newer versions have rectified this issue. |

I use Lowepro Classified 160AW. I fit a camera body, Canon 28-135mm f3.5-5.6 (mounted), 50mm f1.8, Tokina 11-16mm f2.8, Canon 430EX ii, those rocket air blower things, lightmeter, 2 cheapy transceivers for flash all in the main compartment. it's quite a tight fit when it's all said and done. When I bring my 70-200 2.8L IS II (mounted), I can bring the camera body, 50mm f1.8 and one of the other two lenses, and sometimes the flash if I put it in neatly and strategically lol... this bag is relatively compact. it's a messenger type bag with a extra strap included to prevent it from swinging around if necessary. |
Crumpler 5 million dollar home. |
i bought a Tamrac Expedition 6x back pack from a Manager's Special i saw a while back. its got the weatherproof zippers and good size too. it holds everything except my macro gear, which i keep separate. a pro style body, 2 long lenses, a few short ones, flash unit, and all the little stuff in all kinds of flaps and pockets. http://www.epicdevelopements.com/wp-...11/12/bags.jpg |
What camera straps do you guys have?, I want to replace my thin uncomfortable strap. I saw some padded neck strap with easy remove clip on both sides where you attach to the anchor/hook/loop/ of your SLR body. Is that dangerous, in case of accidentally unlocking and your camera just falls to the ground? I am kinda afraid of that happening. Any thoughts? |

^ Best strap I've ever used. Used it entirely in Hong Kong and my neck was never sore, unlike using the stock strap. It's got that soft neoprene neck saver thing that never gets sweaty and hot and it never cuts into your neck or shoulder. http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7030/6...1717b6dc_b.jpg |
does it "grab" your shoulder and not slip off, even with a nylon or GoreTex jacket? |
