Nintendo DS game suggestion thread!

As gay as the title may sound, it's all for a good cause.

long story short I'm giving my DS to a friends kid who is terminally sick and would use it more than I do. Video games are his favorite thing, but they don't have money for such things.

My problem comes in with the fact that all I have is the DS, Elite beat agents and Pokemon plus an R4 chip that they won't have any fun trying to use.

I'd like to buy some new games for him so he can do more than catch em all in pokemon, but I don't know where to start for a 9 year old!
I know from when I used to download games that 90% of the titles available are absolute garbage, so I'm hoping for some suggestions on games that don't suck, that can be found at walmart or EB games!

Thanks in advance

Mario Kart for the DS is a great start, as well as Mario Party.

Yoshi's Island

Animal Crossing and Nintendogs would be hit or miss depending on the kid but it's something that he can get very attached to

New Super Mario Bros

Super Mario 64

ah phoenix wright, If he decides to use the R4 I'll leave with him, it has all the ace attorney games as I played and loved them.

I saw him tonight and his moms bf left an xbox and he was killing it at halo, I may have to skip nintendogs, I thought he might be into that, maybe not anymore haha.

thanks for the suggestions so far, keep em coming!

Oh yeah if he's into RPG games then Chrono Trigger might be a good choice. It was remade for DS and it's still one of the best games ever made IMO. I think a 9 year old could really enjoy it since I first played it when I was slightly younger

Speaking of RPG games, Final Fantasy IV (same as the USDM Final Fantasy II) would make a great addition!

Takes a long ass time to finish it though since the game was made with the JDM difficulty level.

USDM :fuckthatshit:
