No Nikon D4 Thread Yet?

I'm surprised, I thought for sure someone would have posted about it.

DP Review Nikon D4 Overview

I'm hoping the D800 uses the same sensor and has similar video and high ISO capabilities.

I have no numbers to go with this but I'd say the majority of shooters here are Canon users?

Extremely awesome camera though. The D3 almost convinced me to go Nikon but I've pretty much decided on buying a 5D Mk3 whenever that's out.

There is a discussion already in the Offtopic thread. :)

Boostslut 01-06-2012 09:57 PM

The topic in offtopic is now D4.

dangonay 01-07-2012 07:59 AM

Yeah, just saw that. Ridiculous, IMO. So poeple who want to read D4 discussions have to sift through an off-topic thread filled with all sorts of posts instead of reading a single thread?

Senna4ever 01-07-2012 11:44 AM

Well, you would have been more than welcome to start your own dedicated D4 thread instead of complaining about the lack of one. I'll probably start a dedicated thread when I get one to properly test next month, but I'm not going to stop anyone else from doing so.

The Canon 1DX thread I started died at 9 posts, so I didn't bother starting a D4 one.

dangonay 01-07-2012 01:03 PM

^ I thought this would have been the D4 thread. I guess I should have made the title "Didn't see a Dedicated D4 Thread So Here Goes...". ;)

I would have thought threre'd be more interest in the 1DX than a measly 9 posts.

The problem with flagship models is that very few can actually afford them, since there are very few on RS who actually make a living with cameras.

If it was a D700s or D800 announcement, you might see more coverage as we, hobbists, gearheads or simply amateur can at least relate ourselves of owning one.

D4 aside, who's planning on grabbing an used D3s? I am seeing prices falling into 3xxx territories already. If it ever drops below 3000, I think I'm picking one up just for the fun of it. :)

Maybe this will get to 10 posts :troll:

Most people on RS don't drive Ferrari's either, but we still drool (I mean talk) a lot about them.

That said, I've been wanting a top range Nikon for some time (last one I bought was an F5 and that was almsot 15 years ago). I was mulling over a D3 but thought I'd wait one more generation. Just waiting for some samples showing low light performance and also what the D800 offers. I'm almost hoping the D800 doesn't have what I want so I can justify to myself to buy the D4. :)

You misunderstand the difference. Correct me if I'm wrong, but there's no "Ferrari 458 Scuderia Thread!".

If anything, these hypercars are just limited to casual discussion, same with the D4. It's not like the 'iPhone thread' where everyone has an iphone and discusses what to do with them, problems, etc. I'd be very supervised if even one person on RS gets their hand on the D4.

Not to mention they're already a 'what camera should i get' thread, and an off topic already for camera discussion. There's too many camera models for individual threads.

Hey, at least this thread made it to 10 posts. :woot2:

I want Nikon D4. I also want D7000. I want everything!!

I saw this, thought I might share with you all...

Boostslut 01-18-2012 02:32 PM

That video was posted in offtopic, but still a great video and really well done.

So what makes this camera better than the Canon 1D X?

LiquidTurbo 01-18-2012 04:59 PM

Being able to control it with your iPhone. And that's about it.
