There are several reasons I can think of that you're posting with these ignorant replies. 1) You failed to read the whole thread. 2) You lack the support of a family, friend, or lover when you needed it. 3) Somebody gave you negative opinion on your goals in life. 4) You're trolling, looking for internet fights to boost your ego. 5) According to my analysis, it appears that I didn't give you the attention you were expecting after you posted with a link you found on google with lawyer statistics, and somebody told you to "STFU because something must have triggered me to choose this path." 5a) You can't handle rejection well. When you willingly help someone and they say "it's okay", you brush them off with a "fine, fuck you too" type of attitude. You got some serious issues to be coming onto a forum and suddently start shit with someone looking for approval whether their current job is a stable income job. For anyone deciding to continue to post, please read through the whole thread. THIS IS NOT ABOUT LAW SCHOOL. THIS IS NOT ABOUT ME SEEKING EDUCATIONAL ADVICE. DON'T BE IGNORANT LIKE DAFONZ. Quote:
Now find me a post where I showed stubborness and actually asked about information on law school and I'll STFU. Everything DaFonz laid out for me, I agreed and even complimented that it was a great plan. But great plan doesn't mean it'll suit everyone's lifestyle and decision. Get your shit straight before coming on here and making an encouraging statement. You obviously don't even know why this thread started or why we're even in this discussion (argument to you apparently). |
I don't need to find it, and I am not embarrassed. YOU should be though. You want to become a lawyer, yet you do NOT have the drive to do this. How do I know this? #1 you didn't graduate. #2 you are just now deciding to finish high school. #3 you are planning on taking 1.5 YEARS to finish high school EVEN AFTER I informed you about how you could obtain the equivilancy in 2 DAYS. Yet you flat out ignored that because taking 1 course at a time is "part of your plan". Using the car as an excuse is lame. Sell it, have someone take over the lease or payment. Used cars are plentiful. If you just need it for transportation, there is an ABUNDANCE of cheap used cars for sale right now, that fit that bill. Suck it up, take the advice you have been asking for, or fuck off you stupid troll. Posted via RS Mobile |

If he gets a job in the mail room at a law firm, I would be surprised. Forget law school. Posted via RS Mobile |

1) You don't know why I didn't graduate. 2) You don't know why I am deciding to finish high school now. 3) I think I already mentioned that school is not my first priority. So based on these three points, how do you conclude that I don't have the drive to? Why should I ditch the car to go to school? Doesn't make sense. You're here getting off about how I should finish my GED and get into law school blah blah blah, when you didn't even read that school is not my #1 priority at this moment. You want to settle for used cars is your choice, maybe you're making a minimum wage job that can't even support a used car with full tank of gas every month, but I can, and I'm not even complaining. I just don't want to put too much stress on myself working a part time job, going heavy on school and still have to pay for my car when AGAIN school is not my #1 priority. Again, you bring shit up with no facts. What advice HAVE I been asking for? Your guard is still up because you're embarassed for starting shit from nothing, that's why your post is full of insults and cusses, which does nothing to strengthen it. Quote:

Speaking out of my ass? Nah, its called posting my opinion on a public forum, for all to see, and no one to care. I give you shit because I am bored. I am a big man, but that has nothing to do with this. 1) I dont care why you didnt graduate. I didnt either. You wouldnt care why either. 2) I do know why, you want to get into law school. 3) If school is not your first priority, well I think you are pursuing the wrong career. I said ditch the car you owe 2 years on. It makes perfect sense to get rid of your payments for a vehicle you only have to put gas and maintenance into. That monthly payment could be put towards your school savings. Yup, you are such a ballin troll. I wish I could make your $4000 a month. That wouldn't even cover my bills at the moment. Thanks for comin out though, bro. Dont even bother trying to compare incomes. I dont have a guard up, because I dont actually CARE about what happens in this thread. This has been entertaining. That is a good question, what HAVE you been asking for on here? Other then stupid rhetorical questions you dont want the answers to? |

To help kick your ass into gear, I have a friend who did law at Queen's (Ontario), and went to UBC. She lived in Surrey, and her parents would drive her to the skytrain, and she'd bus to UBC on the B-line from Commercial Station. She now works in New York and earns $175,000/year. She is 27. |
If school is not your first priority you will never succeed at any academic level beyond high school, if even that. Posted via RS Mobile |

That's the impression I'm getting from you. 1 & 2) If you dont' care, why do you pass judgement? So you can feel better about yourself? 3) Maybe I am, but you don't care obviously. You tell me to ditch my car yet you have more than $4000 of bills a month. Pretty hypocritical. Worry about your own bills before telling me about mine. Maybe you prefer old beaters that gets you from A to B. Maybe you prefer coke over pepsi. Maybe you'll spend $7 on alcohol at a club you paid $20 to get in. Why are you trying to tell me that a car is not worth paying for when it's all about a person's preference. Keep being prejudice, the only reason you are is because you're jealous, envy and full of hate. The only thing I recall asking prior to all this shit you started was was all in the first original post. Take the time to read before you embarass yourself. Oh and the highlighted text in your quote clearly shows you're trolling. But I'll give you a thumbs up, at least you're not insulting and cussing this time. |

I appreciate all your advices on education and school and stuff. I really do, believe me. But I never asked for any of it in the beginning! :okay: |
Sometimes unsoliciated, even unwanted advice is the best kind you'll receive because it forces you to think about things you don't necessarily want to consider. I'm not criticizing you for leaving high school early or wanting to drive a decent car, but I can tell you school being a priority is not something that can easily be turned on or off. If maintaining a certain income level and subsequent standard of living is a priority, such a long degree might not be realistically right for you, because you will unavoidably be poor in school. There's nothing wrong with that, everyone's different. It's just something you should very seriously consider. Don't explode :) Posted via RS Mobile |

People have also told me that if you were never a school person, it's rare you'll ever become one. dachinesedude nailed it in this thread for me. I know my strength and weaknesses and being in a office is probably not for me. It also comes down to realist versus idealist. Whichever one you are is important on how you pursue your goal. Indecisive is what is stalling my education here. So I am going to take slow while I decide. I have friends who went head on on their education and discover in the end that some of the courses they took were useless. I have a friend that spent $20,000 on learning how to be a chef and was never mentioned again. That is what I don't want to go through. |

As for being full of jealously, envy and hate - why would we be jealous of someone living at home with his parents, slaving away at a crappy job making only $4k a month? You big spender you. Wow! Shucks, I wish I could have a sweet-ass ride like you! I totally wish I had your job as well! Gosh darn, those hours sound AWESOME. |

I want a ferrari, does that mean I'm gonna go waste my money and buy it? I want to have sex with Jessica Alba, does that mean I will do it? I want to be a police, but I might not be brave enough to. I want to be a pilot, but I'm scared of heights. I want to argue with you more, but it's a waste of my time. I want you to STFU, but will you? I want to quit smoking, but I'm addicted. Wanting is part of a dream, the outcome may not be reality. If everyone's life is as perfect as you say, we would all be worry free. |

I tell you to ditch your car because you are trying to save for school. I am not saving for school. My 4k+ in bills is still less then half of my monthly income, Im not worried about them, but you are the one that suggested I was a minimum wage night shift warehouse worker, and brought up your income, I am sure aloud to bring up mine! I dont know how you dont get it, I said get rid of the car BECAUSE YOU ARE WANTING TO SAVE FOR LAW SCHOOL. How fucking dumb are you? I am 1 of I think 4 people that told you this was a good idea. I can guarentee you I am neither jealous, nor envious. As for full of hate, ehhhh, glass is half empty or half full depending how you look at it. BTW, that text wasn't highlighted, this is HIGHLIGHTED, you put parenthesis around something I said, commonly refered to as quoting. |
You asked for a reality check in your first post. You got what you asked for, stop whining because it wasn't what you wanted to hear. |

If you have an interest in law, but can't see yourself confined to an office surrounded by papers, perhaps you should speak to an RCMP recruiter. Alternatively, if you like problem solving and working with people, there's absolutely nothing lesser about vocational training in comparison to academics. You could own a business, be independent, work with people and solve tough problems as a electrician, carpenter or plumber. Quote:
Indecisiveness stalled my education, I simply could not settle on a path. I took courses in all subjects, I researched a dozen careers in depth, worked in multiple different fields and eventually almost gave up and settled. I then out of shear frustration booked two months off work during the summer, everyday I went to the beach and tanned, a bit extreme, but it worked. Amidst my time staring at girls in bikinis my mind cleared, the general stresses of life and constant work and school cleared and I was able to really think about myself. It cost me $8000 in wages, but if I consider that as money spent, it was the best I've ever spent, because through that I finally settled on a career. Instead of just picking something and going with it for the next forty years, I thought of something I had never considered before and am pursuing it now. P.S. I've been working on quitting smoking for a few weeks myself, I'm down to one or two a day from ten a day. The addiction doesn't subside easily, but it definitely has lessened from a need to just a want. |
OP in a nutshell: Asked for reality check. Got a reality check. Don't like it and proceed to get all butt hurt and call people trolls. or Want to be lawyer. Got informed about how to. Like keeping car rather than making bank. Also like to do GED in 1.5 year, taking 1 high school course a semester. Claim school is no longer 1st priority. Also think a success story of girl-become-lawyer as lucky. Guys in this thread even laid out step by step for you and you called them names. Your ego is very high and your drive for success is very low. Stay losing. |
I just read all 3 pages of this "stuck in a position" thread and the title basically sums it up for the OP. |

Asked for reality check on hours I worked and the money I make. Received answers Somebody asked me what I wanted to accomplish in life I answered want to be a lawyer People proceed to give me information on law school Dafonz posted a step by step that law is a tough industry and someone tell him to shut up because something must have triggered me to pick this field I showed my gratitude and added my if's and buts People took it personally for I don't know why Now people claimed I said I wanted to save for law school Am i being trolled here? I feel like i am because people are claiming i said this and that When all this post is about is asking if the hours I put in is worth the money I am making Posted via RS Mobile |

In "The Social Network" there is a scene where Mark Zuckerberg is alone in his dorm programming code, and his friends are out getting drunk. The caption says it's October, 2003. Ask yourself what you were doing in October, 2003. |
It's clearly not worth it, dude. I assume it's a dead-end job with no opportunity to grow. You want a career, not a job. A career will feed you until the day you die and leave some for your kid. A job will not. Do you want your kids to work graveyard? And while there's the cliche "It's never too late to start your career". There's only half truth in it. Companies always prefer young talents. You don't want to fight an uphill battle especially when you're already 26. You're clearly growing dissatisfaction with your graveyard job, then why hanging on to it? Because the car? Not worth it. Because lifestyle? Not worth it. You need to make changes? Do it now. |
Yeah, saying I love this graveyard job would be lying yo myself. Who loves graveyard anyways? Posted via RS Mobile |
