lowering a05 SI Hey guys, I wanna lower my 05 civic SI, I have the springs, but should I change the shocks? I do drive pretty aggressively. Do I change the shocks, and what ones would you guys say to get? i would like to keep the cost down, like around the $400 mark if possible. |
You should always change the shocks when you lower a car, the stock dampers are not valved to support high spring rates and as a result the ride and handling will be terrible. At your price point the only good options are Tokico HP and Koni Street. |
What kind of springs are you planning to install? save yourself money and do the shocks and springs at the same thing. The springs may make your car look lower, but it will definitely handle different and affect ride quality. Also don't forget a proper wheel alignment |
I Have H&R lowering springs I got of of here. Ok both shocks look fine to me, is any one better then the other? The ones I was looking at from the start were these, any good? http://www.tirerack.com/suspension/s...5&autoModClar= |
Sport or Race springs? If they're race springs I definitely recommend shocks because of the drop level but it's safe to get them regardless. Those koni sports are fine. |

This is so far the best price I found http://www.autocarparts.com/part/963/14224/ I was gonna have John at greacemonkey tuners do it. |
That's a really good price on the d-specs, best I've ever seen. It's a really easy suspension to work on, there's really only one bolt that causes problems routinely. You'll need a rear camber kit as well, Megan ones seem to do the job pretty well. |
I heard if you dont care about wear you dont have to put em in right away, is that true? |
do you mean the springs on stock shocks? Sure, if you don't give a fuck about the ride, handling, destroying the stockies, paying twice for installation and twice for alignments. |
no i mean a camber kit |
