Tablets

Any suggestions or share their experiences? Have it down to Galaxy Tab, Transformer Prime, and Ipad2.

It needs to have a good version Word and Execl too, but I think QuickOffice Pro should take care of my needs. Citrix would be nice too, but I think there are apps on both Android and IP2 so I think I'm ok.

Does the Galaxy Tab still have that oil slick/newton ring issue?

And is the WiFi performance that bad on the Prime?

Thanks.

I just got my prime, the wifi is just as good as my iphone.

There were 2 batches with 2 serial numbers, the older batch had wifi problems.

Had an ipad2 for a few months...

here are my grudges...
2 hours before my flight, I wanted to put some manga (jpg) and documents(pdf) in the ipad for me to read on the flight...
nope...apparently you can only take pictures out of the camera folder but you can't put pictures back in from you computer :okay:
instead, I have to go thru the process of adding the photos to my itunes library (which i never use), and syncing them to the ipad selectively....
the same goes for everything else...(movies, song..etc)
everything has to go through itunes and it just feels so restrctive...you can't put anything in the ipad without spending more than a few minutes fiddling in itune
After a while, the ipad becomes this forever :alone: machine that doesn't connect with anything else...and I use it exclusively for web browsing on the sofa now.

Other stuffs: Web browsing is okay, User interface is great, and battery life is superb

tl:dr itune sucks, I am not getting another apple device that requires itune again.

I don't have any wifi issues on my Prime.

PS. Don't list things for sale for more than retail. It's currently in stock and available at FS at the regular $499 price.

thanks guys.

Do both Galaxy and Prime just use a drag/drop system or do you need a specific program like iTunes?

If you dont have any apple products at home, i wouldnt suggest the iPad...
If you do get it, be prepared to get other apple products, like the MAC, iphone...

the Asus Transformer is very nice.. the 16gb was on sale at NCIX for 199.99.. I also picked it up.. but got the i5 combo instead...

You can drag and drop with Windows explorer.

Between the 2 Android Tablets, I vote for Transformer Prime. I don't see why anybody should get a Galaxy Tab now that the Prime is readily available at roughly the same price. The only reasons one should consider a Galaxy Tab 10.1 now is if your carrier is subsidizing your purchase and you want a 3G radio.
(With that said, I still love my Galaxy Tab 10.1)

As for the iOS vs Android debate, that's been beaten to death, but let's just say I got bored of my iPod Touch within a month of getting it and haven't touched it since.

Also, you should probably know that the iPad3 is expected to be unveiled in March

Do you plan on using GPS/map functions a lot on your tablet? If so, the Prime has too many issues with GPS and trouble locking onto your position.

The Wifi is hit or miss, some people haven't had issues while others keep losing connection or have horrible range.

Well it's not that there are a lot of issues with the GPS it's just that GPS has an 1 issue and that's reception. I've used it outdoors successfully in my car and that's good enough for me. I wouldn't navigate with it as it's huge.
