Wikipedia shutting down in protest! What's all this talk about SOPA?

I've heard of this and from what I gather it's bad. But, i'm still in the dark about a lot of it

My question is, how does (SOPA) affect Canadians? Is it only Americans this affects?

My guess is it would get shut down as well for Canadians. There's no separate .ca wiki site.

I think its one day though, right?

Probably a good way to bring the issue to light for the non-techies that follow this stuff.

Who needs Wiki when you have Revscene.

JustFOrFUn 01-17-2012 11:30 PM

If you guys want to use wiki, you can just hit stop before the page finishes loading and it will not redirect you to the black out page.

Took me a try or two to get the timing.

If you really want/need to use Wikipedia ...

Google what you want + Wikipedia (Eg. "China national basketball team Wikipedia")

And instead of clicking the result, hover over it and then hover over the arrow that pops up to the right of the result. A preview thing should pop up; and to the right of the link in the new thing that popped up - press "Cached"

SkinnyPupp 01-17-2012 11:56 PM

you could also just disable javascript
