EMERGENCY!! screwed up my phone while loading a new rom SOLVED!! :D |
Hey, first of all, calm down. I'm no phone expert but, if i recall correctly, google phones use Fastboot - Android Wiki. Similar to ODIN (proprietary to Samsung phones), it allows you to flash your phone without using Recovery Mode. It's a software that you download onto your PC, then you gotta hunt the ROM you wish to flash your phone with. Put your phone into download mode (you could do this by pressing a combination of buttons on your phone depending on model), then proceed to use Fastboot to flash the ROM onto your phone. I do not own a Nexus S but I can safely assume that you are not the first Nexus S user who did this. So calm down for now :) Edit: and wait for the phone gurus to rescue you. |
try this first pull battery, power the phone by holding vol up+power, this should load into bootloader and allow you to select the phone to start into recovery. if not power on phone. use ADB to boot into bootloader reload latest CWMrecovery REMEMBER TO WIPE DATA/CACHE/DALVIK before loading new rom XDA should have decent ICS options for NexusS |

1) turned off phone 2) booted into clockwork by holding power+up 3) went into recovery, google screen loads with unlock on the bottom 4) wiped data/factory reset 5) wiped cache 6) install zip from sd -> choose zip -> install UltimateICS-4.0 7) install google apps 8) reboot rom doesnt load, i get an error. i took pics! sorry for the shitty pics but you can at least see a bit of whats happening here you see it gets aborted http://a7.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot...40671797_n.jpg tried it with cyanogen and i get the same error. however when i load the google apps file you can see that it installs properly. http://a3.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot...01038424_n.jpg |
Go to FS or best buy and buy a cheap pay as you go phone and put your sim in it. You have 14 days to return the phone. that should give you enough time to fix your phone. |
tho this shouldnt have ANYTHING to do with the issue goto advanced and wipe dalvik cache as well and i do see u are running the latest CWM try formatted the SDCARD as well |

Are you able to transfer files to your SD Card? Try this ROM: AOSP+. [ROM][23-01-12][ICS 4.0.3]CodeName: AOSP+ V3.0.3|Many Mods-Customize To Your Taste - xda-developers 1) Turn off phone 2) Boot into recovery 3) Under "Mounts and Storages", wipe /system, /cache, /data, /boot 5) Under "Wipe", wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache partition, wipe dalvik-cache 6) "Install zip from SD" -> "Choose zip" -> "Install" AOSP+ 7) Install AOSP+ Gapps 8) Reboot If all else fails, download the OTA ROM Package, flash that and revert back to Gingerbread. Make sure the package correlates with your "Build Number". You will lose root and CWM after the OTA update. [I9020T][REF] All OTA and Available Full ROM Packages - xda-developers |

|
okay FUCK now the phone wont even boot!!!! it goes into the fastboot mode and says there is no boot or recovery image. this happened after i did "3) Under "Mounts and Storages", wipe /system, /cache, /data, /boot" |

Can you still boot into recovery? If not, follow this guide and reflash ClockWorkMod. [GUIDE] Step by Step ROOT Nexus S via ClockworkMod Recovery image (i9020T only) - xda-developers Then just flash a OTA Gingerbread package so you get your phone working. Do all the tinkering (Rooting, Flashing, etc) after. Grab 2.3.4 or 2.3.6 and you can then update it later. Most important thing is to revert back to a stable ROM. |
sorry for the late reply. i can boot into to recovery but when i connect my nexus s into my computer the computer cant even detect the phone so i cant reflash clockwork mod |

What did you do after wiping /system, /data, /cache, /boot? You should have proceeded to flash the ROM and GApps. It should have no affect on your recovery whatsoever. |
 |
lol spent the whole night at ubc with friends trying to fix the phone. started at 6 and finished at 11 -___- we tried flashing to OTA and everything but i still got the status 7 error with the "installation aborted" turns out this is a common problem. google it. we tried looking at a lot of threads on xda developers but no one solved it. we found out that the version of cwm i had doesnt work with a lot of roms i dont know why. ill ask my friend to post if you guys want. but we got another version of cwm onto the phone and now the phone finally functions! im currently on the UltimateICS ROM right now. second time rooting and loading a rom onto my phone. it was easy with the sgs2 but this time was a pain in the ass. :/ thanks for the help guys, big ups to slsSpeC and darthchilli. you guys can pm me and i can give you my info and ill be willing to give you guys the shit i promised lol. |
no need im good for stickers |
Glad it all worked out. I'm good on the stickers, thanks though. |
