Potty training a 4 year old dog?

Okay so me and my gf are house sitting for the next two months at a family friends house. They have a 4 year old pom who isn't house trained at all. He would stand next to the back door go out to pee and come back in a poo 30mins later. He doesn't poop much during his walks. He has one spot where he poos and pees the most but uses others too. How can i house train this puppy. He would also eat a lot and puke randomly.

It's harder to train older dogs as they develop their own "ego" senses.
Go buy a bag of treats and cheap training pads. My mom used to drag the dog to the training pad when my dog was about to pee/poo (easier to recognize pooping dogs as they do their "stance")
When your dog pees/poops at wrong places, scold really loud but don't hit!
Make sure you award it with treats if he/she got it right

Will take at least 2 weeks to train him/her. Good luck!

And as for puking.... Just don't feed him a lot.

Has this dog been kennel trained at all? If so, might be time to go back to that: if the dog doesn't poop when you go out, put him straight into the kennel when you come back in. Give him an hour or so, then take him straight outside. If he still doesn't poop after a good walk, do it again. His choices then become to either poop outside, or soil his own bed, something dogs REALLY tend to avoid.

Walking will usually help loosen up the bowels too, so make sure you actually take him for a good walk, not just let him out to run around the yard for a bit.

The key to this is waiting the dog out. The dog understands to pee outside so now all you need to do is wait out there for 45 mins or longer (as u said 30 mins later inside it'll poop) for it to poop outside. Make a big deal about it pooping outside. Keep doing this and the dog will in no time pick up on the idea of pooping outside. The kennel will work as well depending on if the dog has ever been in a kennel. if it hasn't it will have no qualms with pooping in the crate. instead of the crate you can leave the collar and leash on the dog in the house. then when 20 mins have passed take the dog back outside and wait it out. As it's use to going inside it probably will not go right away so just wait out there till it does. As you do this each time the dog will go faster and eventually you won't have to wait at all.
