Engine Identification
How can I figure out which engine is in my car? I need a new alternator. I got the right list one from the vin, but it doesn't come close to fitting. So we figure the engine its self isn't stock. How do I find out what kind of engine it is?

Maybe start by telling us what kind of car this is, the year, and perhaps post a pic of the engine. There may be some identification numbers on the engine as well.

Take the alt to an alt shop and have it rebuilt. As for the engine look for stampings on the block and head
