is the temp guage going to the middle and staying there when warmed up?

how long are your normal drives? how much time and how many KM??

ps.. 35psi is too high, and you'll notice uneven tire wear... spec is 29 and i would set that to 32psi cold...

yeah.. one of the defective corollas that made it off the line susp: although it has its perks :fullof speakers are actually far better then the average car.. some believe i have a sub when i don't (stock speakers too :fullofwin:) and it sounds like it has turbo :fullofwin:

lol really, when its at 30 the front tires look like they are flat lol like the sidewall is bulged out lulzzz (got these all seasons in 2010 too)

yeah... those tires just look like that.. that's why my shop puts 32psi in them... evens out the tire wear...

clean your mass air flow sensor... altho a scanner would give you live readings as to what your MAF is reading...

A Corolla is what? Around 50L tank? That's around 400km for a full tank.

Judging by the fact you only drive 5km and less than 10 minutes each time...in the city.
I wouldn't say it's that horribly off.


If you can, take it on a road trip down to the States....day trip to Langley or something.
All highway miles, and report back what kind of mileages you're getting.

Here's a general question that's somewhat related.

When your engine starts to lose compression and the power is noticeably weaker, does it also use more gas at that point?

Yes, = inefficient.

A leaky Headgasket = lower compression = less power = less efficient = should use more gas.

except prove your fuel efficiency problem.....

if you're doing short trips and getting poor mileage, that may be the problem.
fill your tank, drive to hope, say hi to the gas station lady and drive home to your local gas station. fill up and do an accurate L/100 measurement.

I averaged 4.9L/100 from playland to hope last summer keeping the speed limit or slightly over, you should be close. if you get 10L/100 on your test run you obviously have a problem and need a good shop to scan AND more importantly scope your ecu/engine to see what kind of problems you're having.

before throwing parts at it, do a good highway test to see if you 'really' have poor fuel mileage or if it's just your short trips. if you do have a problem, let a shop know about it, explain you've done all the tune up items and get them to scope everything. if they don't have a scope, go somewhere else.

all these replys saying to replace O2 sensor and clean maf im sure mean the best, but realistically without a scope, you won't find the actual problem and will waste time and money (as apperently you have) trying to find a problem hiding somewhere.
