I give all my donations to VGH Thrift Store VGH Thrift Store - Shopping/Retail - Vancouver, BC - Info | Facebook they keep costs down by using volunteers. only worker that gets paid is the manager. pick-ups cost money for them so I drop it off directly to the store. |
I don't really care where they go. I need to get rid of old clothes, my garbage cans only hold so much and I don't want to pay to dump. I find the nearest bin and I pour them in. If they want to make money off them more power to em. It's kind of like the little asian lady that comes down my alley every Friday to take my pop cans before the recycle truck gets them, be my guest. |
I am sad how some of us replied with "I don't really care ...", it's the society we all living in, we have to care ... :rant |
^ Well if it makes you sleep better at night, these companies selling off your donations still need to employ people. Tax money betters society. |
its gotten to the point now that I dont trust anybody, with anything. Look around, everything costs money, and life is about money, unfortunately. I been donating about 6 large garbage bags of clothes the last year or so to value village. Just the other day, I was walking around VV wondering how, and WHY I am donating clothes..only for them to resell them?? Well, I'm glad the person above me a few posts ago broke down their business module. I guess, yes, its great that the profits go to charities. However, after overhead is paid, how much of the profit is skimmed by the top dogs? Same thing with cops making a bust. How much of a $1.3 million dollar seizure is actually what the actual seizure was? From bums selling xmas gifts for money, middle class citizens sneaking food from a food drive, to top charity execs skimming profits...insert idontwanttoliveinthisworldanymore.gif |
